Chicago Sky star Angel Reese is balling out in Unrivaled League

Angel Reese has come a long way from her time in college to the WNBA. In her first season in the professional league, she was the leading star on a rebuilding Chicago Sky. Now as she heads into year two, a lot is riding on her improvement as a basketball player.

There are no doubts about her motor as she was the best rebounder in the WNBA. If not for her season ending injury, she would have finished with the league’s record for total rebounds in a season. But there was a catch.

Her shooting efficiency was down, and many fans accused her of stat padding. In this offseason, they did not see many instances of her working on those shots. Chicago Sky were worried as they wanted her to develop her game as she struggled in the Unrivaled league.

Then she skipped the 1v1 tournament to focus on developing her skills. She then worked with Hall of Famer Lisa Leslie. That has delivered its dividends as she has dominated the past few games. After their latest win, she said this to Taylor Rooks.

I’m just trying to get better every single day. First one in the gym, last one to leave the gym. I just want to put in the work every day, cause I don’t want to ever feel I’m outworked. The work gonna show and I’m excited to get back to Chicago, go Sky.

In her previous game, she became the first player in the Unrivaled league to notch a 20-point 20 rebound game. She managed that stat without having to resort to free throws. It showed that she has improved by leaps and bounds and then she showed out again today.

Angel Reese leads team to 5th straight win

Tonight, Angel Reese and her Rose team went up against the star-studded Phantom team. Despite that difference in shear ability, it was the Rose team that started off well. Reese in particular had a hand in all aspects of the game.

She scored at will early on, not hesitating to pull from three or from mid-range. She even went about facilitating shots for her teammates in those first quarters. At the end of it all, she continued her double double streak by finishing with a stat line of 23 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists.

That overall game helped Rose win their fifth straight game. They have now moved up to second place in the standings, a far cry from when they were near the bottom. The team have four games left on their schedule.

If they can keep this pace, they should secure a playoff berth. Play well and Chicago Sky fans might finally have high hopes for this upcoming WNBA season. Their 22-year-old star forward is getting ready to make her mark.
