Basketball fans have been swooning after Wendell Carter Jr. seemingly confirmed that he and WNBA superstar Angel Reese are officially in a relationship.

The Orlando Magic star tried to confuse fans by using the term ‘homie’, but others understood in that instant that the two tall people who happen to dribble a basketball at the highest level are together.

It culminated months of rumors that started when the Orlando Magic center was spotted at Reese’s birthday party this May. She had clarified that she did not want to have a public relationship, which is why neither of them ever made it official.

Appearances at the 2025 WNBA All-Star game, at events organized by the Chicago Sky star’s foundation, all added on to the rumors, which finally became true. Then, she added fuel by writing this on social media.

Rebounds win games.

The WNBA rebounding phenom used a ‘contained laughter’ emoticon, and one depicting she does not know what she is talking about, to try and throw some fans awry.

However, many caught on that Angel Reese was indeed talking about Wendell Carter Jr. after his 11 rebounds were instrumental in the Magic’s close win over the Detroit Pistons.

From one rebounding record-holder, this tweet was fitting, as not only did she not reveal who she was talking about, but left enough clues for people to realize she was indeed talking about her NBA star boyfriend.

Wendell Carter Jr. and Magic stop Pistons’ late charge

The Detroit Pistons have soared to become the best team in the East, and were on their way to match the league-leading Oklahoma City Thunder, had their 13-game winning streak not come to a halt.

It was the Boston Celtics who ended that run, which meant there was a chance the Pistons would come into their game against the inconsistent Orlando Magic with an intention to start another streak.

What surprised Detroit fans was that their team was behind the visitors for the first 3 quarters. In the 4th, their team finally started to stage a comeback to try and snatch the lead.

The scores were close, and the Magic had to ensure they did not have any lapses on defense. A team effort saw them keep the Pistons at bay and avoid a game-changing rally.

Despite that, the home team was still in a shout to tie the game and try to win it in overtime. With less than 5 seconds left, Pistons star Cade Cunningham was at the free-throw line, but missed his first attempt.

Knowing he lost one chance to reduce the deficit, he purposely missed the 2nd with a brilliant off-shot that rebounded straight into his hands. He then passed the ball to Duncan Robinson, who tried to shoot from beyond the 3-point line.

But it was blocked by Anthony Black. As the ball came down, Wendell Carter Jr. ensured no Pistons’ player touched it, and he clutched it to his chest until the final buzzer sounded.

Angel Reese reposts respect for Black women amidst Megan Thee Stallion – Klay Thompson relationship

Angel Reese wrote the rebound tweet after the buzzer, as her man had just grabbed the ball to ensure the Detroit Pistons did not get another shot off.

A while before the game, the Chicago Sky star noticed a fan’s opinion on Megan Thee Stallion and Klay Thompson‘s relationship, which she decided to repost.

The tweet talks about how black women are generally treated unfairly by the men they are in a relationship with, and how Thompson is showing the world how to treat his woman properly.

As a close friend of the rapper, Angel Reese knows a lot more about her relationship than others, which is probably why she reposted this tweet. The WNBA star feels the same as the fan when it comes to how a man should treat black women.
