Angel Reese's LSU end March Madness run over late game controversial officiating

NCAA March Madness women’s basketball is reaching its final stages with the Elite Eight still in session. In the first round of games, Angel Reese witnessed her LSU Tigers go up against the UCLA Bruins. In a battle that would decide who moves on to the Final Four, the game was closer than what many expected.

The UCLA Bruins are ranked No. 1 for a reason. Their combination of frontcourt size and elite guard play have made them difficult to stop. But Kim Mulkey‘s LSU play with a grit that far outlives opposition skill. It won them their first ever NCAA Championship with Reese leading the lineup.

Naturally, she would want her team to win it again and saw her team keep the game seemingly level into the half. But starting in the third quarter, UCLA ran out into a double-digit lead as their inside-outside game threatened to leave the Tigers helpless.

But LSU started a rally that continued up until late in the fourth quarter. In that run, LSU tried to snatch the ball away from UCLA, but after a mad scramble, it went out of bounds. Officials believed LSU had the last touch and handed the ball to UCLA, but that irked Angel Reese.

These refs man smh.

She wrote this on X after replays clearly showed that the ball last touched UCLA’s Kiki Rice on its way out. LSU HC Kim Mulkey could not challenge it since NCAA rules prohibit challenges in the final two minutes. That ended LSU’s momentum, their chances of winning the game, as well as their run in this season’s NCAA March Madness.

Angel Reese wants LSU’s leading star at Chicago Sky

Now that the LSU Tigers women’s basketball team have ended their run in this season’s NCAA March Madness, the focus shifts on to the players. Team leader Aneesah Morrow is set to enter the WNBA as a highly rated prospect. Angel Reese would very much like if Morrow ends up becoming her teammate again.

Me & Nees gon be killing each other for rebounds in the W.

The forward’s size and strength make her a consistent double-double threat. She lacks a consistent outside shot, but once she develops that, she can be a consistent threat on the Chicago Sky. Her motor could also see her battling with Reese for rebounds.

However, it is unlikely to happen. The Connecticut Sun hold the seventh and eighth overall picks. According to all the mock drafts currently doing the rounds, the Sun should select Aneesah Morrow with either of those picks.

Reese’s Sky could draft another former LSU player

Hailey Van Lith has been tearing up NCAA March Madness. Her performances have helped re-establish herself as one of the premier players in college basketball. She led TCU to famously win over powerhouse Notre Dame.

If anything, her performances alone have elevated her draft stock and possibly dampened those of the three Notre Dame stars set to enter the Draft. Van Lith was looked as a second-round pick. But now, it is possible that she winds up at No. 10 with the Sky.

She can be their future playmaker and develop behind veteran Courtney Vandersloot. If anything, it would excite Angel Reese as well. The Chicago Sky star has always hyped-up Van Lith to prove everyone wrong. She had a disastrous time with LSU, but with TCU, she has earned her reputation back.
