Angel Reese broke the WNBA record for most rebounds in a single season on Sunday. The feat came two days after she dressed the part by honoring Dennis Rodman, wearing his Detroit Pistons jersey on Friday. However, that’s perhaps not the only connection Reese has with Detroit Pistons considering her dating rumors with Jalen Duren.
Adding fuel to the fire, Reese donned a Dennis Rodman jersey as she arrived at the Wintrust Arena. The clip of Reese arriving before her match against Caitlin Clark‘s Indiana Fever has since gone viral. The official Instagram handles of WNBA even posted it on their page. Her tribute to Rodman was well-received by fans, reflecting her stellar season where she averaged 13.3 points, 12.9 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.3 steals per game.
Currently, the Chicago Sky rookie is rumored to be dating Pistons’ Jalen Duren as both the individuals were spotted at vacation on a same spot. Moreover, earlier this month, Reese was spotted on social media donning a Pistons hoodie. Several other social media imprints by Reese have been caught on by the fans, further strengthening their speculations.
Angel Reese’s WNBA career started only this year, but she has made tremendous progress when it comes to making an impact. She has surpassed established players such as A’ja Wilson, Napheesa Collier and Breanna Steward in rebounding. For that reason, several comparisons have been made between her and Rodman, who won seven rebounding titles in his career.
Sheryl Swoopes loves watching Angel Reese play
Angel Reese has been getting well deserved praise for her remarkable rookie season. WNBA legend Sherl Swoopes was one of them who showered high praise on the Chicago Sky player. While doing so, she even joked about using Reese’s language.
In an interview with the Marquee Sky, Swoopes expressed that she loved to see Reese play because of her originality. Furthermore. she mentioned Reese was ‘unapologetic’ and played hard regardless of what side she was on. This might have been a mention of Reese’s new podcast of the same name.
This was Reese’s first WNBA season, and she has made the most of it. Swoopes also credited her for embracing both the good and the bad of the sport. She is one of the top contenders to win the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the year award.
