Since the 2023 NCAA National Championship game, Angel Reese has been facing a lot of criticism. Now, in the 2nd season of her WNBA career, nothing has changed, even though she has tried to silence her doubters.
Her performances for the Chicago Sky in the initial days of this 2025 season were not good enough to quell the critics. However, the 6′ 3″ forward has since taken the next step as she plays the point forward role with aplomb.
Her first career triple-double, Player of the Week honors, along with another double-double streak, had managed to silence doubts over the lack of development in the offseason. Despite all those performances, WNBA legend Candace Parker was not convinced.
While ranking players, the 3-time champion placed Caitlin Clark at the A tier, with the potential to reach the S Tier if she improves her game in the next couple of seasons. When it came to Angel Reese’s turn, Parker placed her at the C Tier.
Her logic was that, except for the forward’s stellar rebounding, her overall performance did not help the Sky win. She faced backlash for it, but Parker stood her ground, claiming that she does not hate Reese, rather was just critiquing her game.
Clout is one helluva DRUG. Like it really gets to a point.

This was the Chicago Sky star’s latest tweet on X. It is not evidently clear if this was directed at Parker, but the 2-time league MVP’s latest podcast episode seems to have brought out this response.
Candace Parker stands by her Angel Reese logic
If it is indeed a response to Candace Parker’s latest podcast clip, it is possible that Angel Reese was ticked off by the legend’s constant suggestion that the Sky forward is not good enough to be called a great player.
I in no way or shape or form am a hater. What player are you taking Angel Reese over, of those that I just listed?
Candace Parker said
She was referring to some names on the list and was probably asking fans who were watching the podcast stream live. Since it has not yet appeared on YouTube, it is unclear which players Parker compared Reese to.

Whoever they are, it seems the 39-year-old was trying to reiterate her point that Angel Reese is not good enough to move up from the C-Tier. Parker reiterated that she was not hating on the Sky forward, but the Maryland native’s response suggests she did not appreciate this take.
Angel Reese’s return not enough to stop Sky losing 6th straight game
When Candace Parker ranked Angel Reese, she said that the forward’s performances have to result in wins for the Chicago Sky. Only then can they be defined as the mark of a great player.

The 23-year-old missed the last two games due to a back injury. Usually, when she is out, the Sky loses a lot of games. Her absence takes away their rebounding and interior presence that Kamilla Cardoso cannot manage on her own.
When she returned today, they were expected to play better than they have over the past 5 games. Reese also turned in a 22-point, 13-rebound effort, along with some assists, steals, and blocks. However, they were not enough as the Sky lost their 6th straight game.
Last season, the Chicago-based team lost an embarrassing 7 straight games with Reese helming the lineup. Admittedly, they have quite a few players out with injuries.
Therefore, all the blame cannot be placed solely on her shoulders. Even then, they have to find a way to at least battle closely with teams that are not significantly better than them.
