Angel Reese’s teammate shares fresh perspective about growing hate in basketball
Sky star Kamilla Cardoso tackles the ongoing hate received by her teammate Angel Reese and other WNBA stars on her Instagram Live.
Kamilla Cardoso and Angel Reese
The recent antics of the Chicago Sky center Kamilla Cardoso‘s Instagram has fans in splits. It’s no secret that Cardoso routinely uses Instagram Live to respond to messages and do whatever makes her happy. However, this time around she chose to speak up on the recent hate given to players, especially her teammate Angel Reese by fans across the world.
This is also about the hate her teammate Reese has received online from ‘so-called’ Caitlin Clark fans. Cardoso made her message clear on her Instagram Live.
Why do y’all feel like in order to give a player they flowers, y’all gotta minimize other players?Kamilla Cardoso on her Instagram Live
Cardoso made a valid point with her question as fans can appreciate a player while respecting the other too. Notably, Reese also opened up about the hate that Clark fans have shown her over the years. She asserted on her self-titled podcast, Unapolegitcally Angel, that Clark fans have also been racist towards her.
In addition, Reese said that her family members received (AI)-generated photos of her in her undies. She was impacted by it. She revealed that her family members began asking her whether she was posting nude photos on social media. Hence, Cardoso’s question to the fans around the world has to be taken into consideration, given the trauma that Reese is going through currently.
However, there is a stark difference between Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark in how they deal with stardom. On the one hand, Reese is boisterous and loud, and on the other Clark is humble and calm. This discrepancy makes Reese an easy target for fans who don’t appreciate her self-aggrandizing claims.
Angel Reese and teammates once stood up for Chennedy Charter being ‘harassed’ by paparazzi
The Chicago Sky star Chennedy Charter was going through a lot after bodying the Indiana Fever star, Caitlin Clark. As such, she faced a lot of criticism and hate by the WNBA community for her stunt. Later on, both stars made peace and got over with the situation. Despite this, a paparazzi decided to follow her and harassed her by putting the camera in her face while she walked out in public.
This did not go down well with her teammate Angel Reese as she took to X to put forward her views. In addition, Michaela Onyen and Isabelle Harrison, two of her other teammates, also tweeted their disapproval of the paparazzi for bothering Carter. These kinds of inquiries are typically saved for WNBA-approved interviews. However, harassment has become a topic of discussion in the WNBA nowadays.
In addition, Reese has also made it clear that she is there to stand up for her teammates if needed. Although rookies usually do not involve themselves in this situation, Reese remains unfazed by it. She has made her intentions clear regarding the harassment and hate that the players are receiving from the fans as well as the media at times.
