Angel Reese goes viral for winning against defending conference champions New York Liberty

While Caitlin Clark struggles to secure her first win, her fellow rookie and rival, Angel Reese, has already experienced victory. However, Reese’s initial win was against a relatively equal opponent. Tonight, she faced a far tougher challenge against the WNBA’s Eastern Conference Champions and this year’s title favorites, the New York Liberty. Reese and her Chicago Sky teammates rose to the occasion, securing a famous victory.

After an evenly matched first quarter, the Chicago Sky went on a rally in the second to take the lead. In the third quarter, the New York Liberty, led by superstars Breanna Stewart and Sabrina Ionescu tried to come back.

However, crucial plays from Reese and her teammates helped them gain the advantage in the fourth quarter to win their second straight game. The former LSU standout particularly picked Stewart once and also did not show any rookie confidence issues going up against two former MVPs guarding the interior.

This win takes the Chicago Sky to third in the Eastern Conference. More importantly, it helped Angel Reese get to the top of the rookie rankings with her team-oriented play. She knows there are stars on her team who can score better.

This win also handed the New York Liberty break their WNBA leading 4-game unbeaten run. Not a small feat considering they have a first-year head coach and a rebuilt roster. No wonder Angel Reese has gone viral on the internet.

Angel Reese getting the head start over Caitlin Clark and other rookies

Angel Reese and her rivalry against Caitlin Clark was the story of the college basketball world for the past two seasons. This time around though, the rivalry has not officially started, but Reese has taken the lead. Winning two games when Clark and her Indiana Fever are a league-low 0-5 has fans talking on social media.

Basketball followers know that Reese took much of the flak in her rivalry against Clark. But this time, she got her flowers for at least being on a winning team. Check out some of those reactions below:

The Chicago Sky still awaits Angel Reese’s fellow rookie Kamilla Cardoso to pay for them. Once that happens, the two NCAA champions will lead one of the best interior duo in the WNBA.
