Angel Reese and her Chicago Sky have been in a major slump lately. A slew of injuries has cost the team 6 straight games, and they were about to face the Golden State Valkyries, who themselves are trying to get out of a slump.

Angel Reese saw her name added to the injury list after her back problem resurfaced. She has already missed two games, but came back to deliver another double-double in their last loss. Without her in the lineup, the Sky has lost 90% of its games so far.

This time, they knew that the Valkyries also had some injuries and looked to use that to their advantage. Up until the third quarter, the Sky managed to keep pace with the upstart team in what would be a low-scoring game.

When the clock displayed 7:50 in the third quarter, a neon green object flew from the stands and onto the court. It landed near the stanchion, and referees first tried to kick it off the court. A Sky staff member came over and picked it up with a towel, and took it away.

This was a similar NSFW toy that brought out commotion in the Atlanta Dream home game the night before. Angel Reese and her teammates were seen visibly shocked while on the bench.

They were then seen laughing as they could not believe what was happening in the league. Two toys in two nights in different cities seems to be a trend. So far, the league has not been able to identify the first perpetrator. It is yet unknown if it was the same person involved.

Fans shocked as Angel Reese’s Sky faces wrath of green toy

It so happens that the last time a similar NSFW green toy appeared, the home team, i.e., the Atlanta Dream, lost. This time, Angel Reese’s Chicago Sky lost at home 73-66. Both times, the Golden State Valkyries were the opponent.

Other than that coincidence, fans believe this is the WNBA’s severe lack of security measures showing its ugly side. The object might not be made of a hard substance, but it could still injure someone, especially when thrown from such a distance.

Fans believe these incidents on back-to-back nights showcase the league’s inability to safeguard its players. Some players came forward to ask fans not to throw such objects. But mostly, fans believe the onus is on the league as well as the respective teams. Check out examples of those reactions below:

Players and fans would want this to stop. However, there has been no official communication from the league yet, and neither have there been any rumors of launching an investigation. With such hard evidence literally visible on the court, it is baffling that the WNBA has not yet taken a stand.

Angel Reese trolls Sydney Colson for ‘mean green’ appearance

After the first incident of the green NSFW toy, Indiana Fever veteran and de facto the league’s funniest woman, Sydney Colson, appeared on her podcast wearing an all-green suit, and with a smug face.

She labeled herself ‘mean green’ to troll the incident that took place in Atlanta. This time, Angel Reese jokingly took a shot at Colson, asking if she was responsible this time for the Chicago appearance.

Hey Sydney Colson, why do you keep throwing your mean green in different arenas…. it’s getting weird.

Angel Reese wrote on X

This was naturally a joke, and the Fever veteran responded by sending a picture of herself again in that green suit. Even though this was a joke, the league should be wary of this turning into a laughingstock, similar to what the New Orleans Pelicans faced when someone threw chicken wings on the court.
