WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis is considered one of this generation’s most dominant professional boxers. The boxing community has consistently recognized his exceptional skills in the sport, largely due to his impressive record. However, his recent fight against Lamont Roach sparked concerns and reactions from various individuals, including WNBA player Angel Reese.

Interestingly, Reese’s reaction stemmed from one key reason. She made a prediction during the ongoing fight between Gervonta Davis and Lamont Roach. The WNBA player believed that Davis’ braids would influence the outcome of the fight. As Reese had predicted, Davis’ braids contributed to him ending up with a draw, marking his first draw in professional boxing career.

Davis holds the reputation of brutally dismissing the formidable challengers coming in his way. However, unlike the majority of the occasions, his fight against Roach was more competitive. The WBA super featherweight champion was in quest for Davis’ lightweight title.

As a result, Roach put out an absolute best performance. Notably, during the ninth round of the fight, Roach countered Davis with a right jab. Seconds later, ‘Tank’ took a knee.

Interestingly, Angel Reese’s prediction turned out to be true when Davis himself explained the reason behind taking a knee. Initially, commentators and onlookers speculated that it was due to a knockdown. However, ‘Tank’ revealed that he was experiencing irritation from grease in his hair that was getting into his eyes. Many prominent onlookers, including NBA veteran Damian Lillard shared their thoughts on the matter.

‘Tank’ Davis comes from humble beginnings. However, as he rose through the ranks in the professional boxing world, the Baltimore native gained widespread recognition. Notably, Lillard, a boxing enthusiast, is well aware of Davis’s stature. As a result, the NBA veteran favored the WBA lightweight champion to win against Roach. However, in contrast to his prediction, Lillard believes that Davis lost the fight.

Despite the controversy, ‘Tank’ Davis retained his WBA lightweight title and upheld his undefeated streak.
