Since coming into the WNBA, Angel Reese has established herself as the queen of double-doubles. Last year, she set records doing so. This season, she has added playmaking to her list of skills, and it has been paying off for the Chicago Sky.
She netted her 1st-ever triple-double when she notched 11 assists against the Connecticut Sun, back in June. Since then, she has been averaging a healthy 4.5 assists per game. In that stretch, the Sky has been 5-7.
That is a remarkable improvement for her team, who were 2-7 in their first 9 games, with the lone wins against the then bottom of the table Dallas Wings. This latest stretch includes an impressive win against the league-leading Minnesota Lynx, whom they faced again today.
That win was at home. This time, they were on the road after the All-Star weekend, and Sky fans hoped the team would bounce back after the 2nd of those home games, which they lost. In the 1st quarter, and for much of the 2nd, the Sky was comfortably in the lead.

Then in the last few minutes of the 2nd quarter, the Lynx pounced on the Sky’s turnovers and quickly built a lead. They continued stretching that lead and ended up embarrassing the visitors 91-68.
In the final few minutes, Sky head coach Tyler Marsh took Reese off the court. It then dawned upon fans that it was the right move as the forward would have had an embarrassing press conference if she turned the ball over 1 more time.
Angel Reese’s turnovers bring out jokes on social media
Had she notched 1 more turnover, Angel Reese would have had her 2nd triple-double of her WNBA career. Just that it would have been embarrassing, as one part of it would be 10 turnovers.
Some fans blamed her turnovers for the Sky’s 2nd quarter collapse. Without her turnovers, the team had a good lead and could have had a fighting chance until the end. They believe she was extremely casual today and was not careful with the ball.
Some pointed out that, unlike Caitlin Clark‘s 10-turnover WNBA debut, this was more about Reese’s carelessness than her teammates not catching the ball. Fans asked if the 6′ 3″ forward’s actual problems handling the ball were coming through after a stellar run so far. Check out examples of those comments below.

I’m a Chicago Sky fan, but Angel Reese is in cripple double territory with 7 points 10 boards and 8 turnovers in the mid-3rd Quarter 😬

Angel Reese’s critics were quiet when the Sky star was showing amazing improvements to her game. But this one instance has given them a chance to get a chance to troll the Maryland native again.
Angel Reese sets another record despite loss
Thankfully for Angel Reese, she did not set the triple-double, else it would have taken the shine away from her otherwise stellar performances so far. By stopping at a double-double, the Chicago Sky star ended up notching her 10th straight one.

This makes her the only player ever to have multiple streaks of 10 straight double doubles. It is not an easy feat considering so many elite forwards and centers have had the opportunities to set such records.

Angel Reese drops her 10th straight double-double, becoming the only player in WNBA history with multiple streaks of 10+ double-doubles.
She currently has 11 PTS and 10 REB vs. the Lynx 🔥#WelcometotheW pic.twitter.com/wPtVv7XbvU
But the 23-year-old is the only one to do so, and is in a class of her own. All of this despite not resorting to ‘Mebounds’ as some of her critics would say. On top of that, this feat is noteworthy as her change to a point forward position takes her away from the basket on many possessions.
That point forward role has led to an increase in turnovers, as is usual for players looking to set up their teammates. This one instance of 9 turnovers can be written off as a one-off instance, as her new role has helped the Sky win games. She will likely continue to play in this role.
