Angel Reese’s smack talk about Sabrina Ionescu caught during timeout break: “She can’t f**king guard”

Angel Reese talks trash to Sabrina Ionescu

Angel Reese has made it clear that she is one of the best instigators in the WNBA. She wears her heart on her sleeve and is one of the biggest trash-talkers in the league. Reese put this on full display as the Rose BC took on the Phantom BC in Sabrina Ionescu’s return to the Phantom BC at the Unrivalled League. As the two went at it, Reese couldn’t resist firing some shots towards the New York Liberty star.

The moment occurred during a timeout when Rose BC coach Nola Henry was talking to her team while mic’d up. As the team huddled, Angel Reese chimed in with some trash talk, insinuating that she should attack Sabrina Ionescu on defense. Reese’s words were caught on the hot mic and quickly went viral on social media. “They can’t stop it. Sabrina can’t (expletive) guard,” Reese appeared to say on the mic.

Unfortunately for Rose BC, Reese’s words did not come to fruition. The Phantom BC secured a 75-63 win over the Reese-led Rose BC. Reese put up a solid performance on the night, with 13 points, 7 rebounds, 2 blocks and a steal in just 11 minutes of playing time. Unfortunately, her contributions were not enough to overcome the flamethrower on the other end of the court – Sabrina Ionescu.

After missing Phantom BC’s last game, Ionescu had a bounce-back game on Friday, putting up a game-high 32 points, 8 assists and 9 rebounds on 11-18 shooting, including 7-10 from downtown in just 19 minutes of playing time. Ionescu, despite Reese’s claims about her defense, more than held up her end on the floor, even blocking a shot of Reese’s, eventually leading the Phantom BC to a comfortable win.

Angel Reese and Rose BC continue to slide after another loss

Entering the inaugural edition of the Unrivalled League, the Rose BC were one of the most hyped teams in the league, featuring a roster starring Angel Reese, Brittany Sykes, Chelsea Gray, Lexie Hull, Kahleah Cooper and Azura Stevens. However, their start to the season has been anything but rosy so far.

They have managed to win just 1 game in their first 5 and sit near the bottom of the standings with a 1-4 record, with only the Mist BC having a worse record than them. Angel Reese, for her part, has been fairly solid on the floor, adding much-needed defensive spark and rebounding for the team.

She has seen limited playing time due to her offensive limitations, but as she continues to put up solid performances on a struggling team, HC Nola Henry may be forced to find more minutes for the young star. On the other hand, Sabrina Ionescu and the Phantom BC are starting to pull things back after their win over the Rose BC.

They currently stand 4th overall, with a 2-3 record, and the return of Ionescu to their roster will certainly bolster the team. The two teams are set for a rematch on Feb. 24th, as they will expect to be drastically higher in the overall standings at the time of their rematch.
