Seems like the Los Angeles Angels and baseman Anthony Rendon’s relationship has started to strain even before the 2025 season began. While manager Ron Washington has absolute faith in Rendon’s comeback, the latest injury news does not deliver positivity.
Over the past couple of seasons, Anthony Rendon has seen his name on the injured list more than on the roster with the Angels. In the last five seasons, Rendon has appeared in only 257 games and missed 68.3 percent of the team’s play since signing his deal.
As per the latest news, Rendon will undergo left hip surgery and is expected to be out “long term” before returning. The Spring Training has just started and Rendon won’t be visible on the field games for quite a while.
His baseball career has been marred with injuries one after another. Since signing a 7-year $245 million contract with the LA Angles in 2019, he has not played much but recorded his worst career game last season.
He had some difficulty with his rehab over the last couple weeks, and we had a couple different doctors take a look at it. It’s a long-term rehab. We’ll see how it goes.

In 2024, he visited the injured list thrice for a left hamstring strain, low back inflammation, and a left oblique strain. He just played in 57 games with no home runs. Despite his struggle to play Anthony Rendon is under $38.5 million AAV for the 2025 and 2026 seasons.
Social media reacts to Anthony Rendon’s injury update
Despite the harsh news of Anthony Rendon getting sidelined even before the start of the Spring Training, manager Ron Washington has faith in him. He said that the team would rearrange and find a baseman to fill in Rendon’s position for the time being.

The team doesn’t have any option but to find a replacement and hope for the best in the regular season games. The fans on the other hand are livid hearing the injury news.
One X user commented, “Hope he never plays again,” while another questioned, “Is this a joke?” Check more fan reactions below:

The fans developed a dislike of Rendon not only because of his injury-ridden career but also his comments on the sport. Last February, Rendon said that baseball is not more important to him than his faith and family.
If push comes, he’ll choose his family and faith rather than continue playing baseball. His comment set several off including fans, pundits, and reporters. Currently, his only way up is to provide the team with the best version of himself and make a new positive record for his career.
