Angkrish Raghuvanshi apologizes for brash remark against badminton legend Saina Nehwal

Angkrish Raghuvanshi, the young KKR star found himself at the receiving end of some serious heat as he made a remark for which he later apologized to Indian badminton sensation, Saina Nehwal.
After India won the T20 World Cup, there have been vehement protests from Indian athletes hailing from different walks of life about how cricket has overshadowed the achievements of the Indians in the other sports. Joining in the debate, Saina Nehwal lambasted the system for letting cricket take the centerstage despite promising returns in other disciplines.

Angkrish Raghuvanshi who played his first IPL in this year’s edition for the Kolkata Knight Riders made a very brash remark which said that if Jasprit Bumrah bowls a 150 kmph yorker at Saina, then where should she go. Realizing the damage that he had already done and the kind of backlash that he received from the fans, he instantly apologized stating that it was an immature joke. He even took the post down.
Saina Nehwal has already bagged the Padma Bhusan in 2016, Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna in 2009-10, the Padma Shri in 2010 and the Arjuna Award in 2009 for her relentless service to the nation and the sport. She also won the Bronze medal in the 2012 Olympics beating Wang Xin in the third-place play-off.

Angkrish Raghuvanshi who made his debut in IPL this year had an eventful season, learning from the very best. He went onto score 163 runs from 10 matches, striking at a rate of 155.24 while chronicling 54 as his highest score. This, however, isn’t Raghuvanshi’s first rodeo with greatness.
He was a part of the Indian U19 cricket team that went onto win the 2022 ICC U19 World Cup. He has been labeled as a promising batter and has been growing under the watchful eyes of Abhishek Nayar and Omkar Salvi before making a permanent move to Mumbai.
