Former tennis ace Anna Kournikova was recently seen in a wheelchair in a rare public appearance on Saturday (January 25) at Bal Harbour Shops in Miami. Kournikova injured her leg and was wearing an orthopedic boot.
She was with her two daughters, seven-year-old Lucy and four-year-old Mary. One woman was seen pushing the Kournikova’s wheelchair in the parking lot. How she got injured is not known.
The 43-year-old, who has been in a long-term relationship with Spanish singer-songwriter, Enrique Iglesias, since 2001, was in a black hooded sweatshirt, and wore sunglasses, while her blonde hair was pulled into a bun. Kournikova and Iglesias, who live in Miami Beach, Florida, have been together since they met on the set of his 2001 ‘Escape’ music video.

They rarely appear in public together and don’t share many pictures on social media either. But the last time the couple was seen together was on May 8, 2022, when Kournikova shared a picture of the whole family celebrating Iglesias’ birthday in the backyard.
Kournikova and Iglesias have not yet tied the knot. During an interview with Parade magazine, the singer stated that he didn’t think ‘marriage would make a difference’ and that he didn’t believe that ‘you love somebody more because of a piece of paper’, citing his parents’ divorce as a possible reason behind his thoughts.
Anna Kournikova had to retire at the age of 21 after succumbing to injuries
Anna Kournikova had never won a singles title, but in spite of that, she reached a career-high ranking of No.8 in November 2000. Her best performance in Grand Slam singles came at 1997 Wimbledon when she progressed to the semifinal.
In her doubles career, the Russian registered a 200–71 win-loss record, winning 16 titles. In doubles, Kournikova, thanks to her successful run at the 1999 Australian Open and the final at the French Open of the same year, became a World No.1 along with doubles partner Martina Hingis.
The pair of Hingis and Kournikova had another successful campaign at the Melbourne Slam in 2002. They also emerged as champions in the WTA Finals twice (1999 and 2000).
Apart from her doubles achievements, Kournikova has also made it to two Grand Slam mixed doubles finals. After turning pro in 1995, she was forced to call time on her career in 2003 when she was just 21 years old. She was suffering from serious spinal problems, including a herniated disk.
