American tennis is already witnessing another prodigy in the making. The 16-year-old Coco Gauff has made a leap and caused a stir in the WTA ranking charts. Her jump in rankings is the best amongst the top 100 at the moment.

Coco Gauff played the Ostrava Open last week, and the updated chart on Monday saw her earnings points from the tournament. Gauff is the new World No. 47, as she breaks into the top 50.

The career-high ranking of Gauff results from her successful run at Ostrava Open last week. Gauff cleared through the qualifying rounds and made into the last-16 of the tournament where she suffered a loss to eventual champion Sabalenka.

The American rose to fame after the Wimbledon appearance back in 2018 while she was just 14. Gauff rose to No. 141 in the world and defeated likes of Venus Williams, Magdaléna Rybáriková and Polona Hercog. She lost to Simona Halep in the fourth round.

The American jumped eight places to record the joint-biggest jump in the updated rankings within the top 100. Her hopes to climb the charts were hampered as the pandemic caused the Wimbledon to be canceled. However, with the resumption of the tour, Coco has shown her talent yet again.
