IPL 2021: Anrich Nortje joins Delhi Capitals camp after testing negative for COVID-19

Anrich Nortje
Delhi Capitals (DC) were given a huge boost today as South African pacer Anrich Nortje joined the camp and entered the bio-bubble for the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The 27-year-old had arrived from South Africa and tested negative upon arrival in India. However, a subsequent test revealed that he was COVID positive before a subsequent test revealed that it was negative.
His return would be a huge boost to DC who lost their match yesterday against the Rajasthan Royals (RR). After posting a modest 147 on the board thanks to Rishabh Pant‘s fifty, DC had done well to pick up regular wickets in the second innings. However, David Miller and Chris Morris came up with superb knocks to steal victory in a last-over thriller with the latter hitting a six to win it.
Delhi Capitals confirm Anrich Nortje’s negative test

Delhi Capitals’ official Twitter handle confirmed the news of Nortje’s return by posting a video on Twitter of the South African expressing his excitement to be back, captioning it, “He’s here. Our pace superstar is now out of quarantine. After a false positive result for COVID-19, Anrich Nortje tested negative thrice, and is now part of our team bubble. We can’t wait to see him in action #YehHaiNayiDilli #IPL2021 @AnrichNortje02 @TajMahalMumbai.”
Nortje’s return would be huge news for DC because he was one of their best bowlers last season, picking up 22 wickets and wreaking havoc among batsmen with his express pace. He formed a potent partnership with fellow South African Kagiso Rabada and he would want the partnership to come good this season as well.
DC face Punjab Kings next on the 18th of April.
