Anthony Davis’ blistering start to the season a result of ‘better physical condition’ compared to previous years, NBA insider says
Anthony Davis dominates early as Los Angeles Lakers start 3-0, fueling optimism about his injury-prone past.
Anthony Davis has been on fire for the LA Lakers
Anthony Davis has been a man on fire as he has silenced the usual injury concerns with a dominant start to the 2024-25 season. Furthermore, he has led the Los Angeles Lakers to a 3-0 record on 57.1% shooting, 11.0 rebounds, 1.7 steals, and 2.3 blocks per game.
With that as proof, ESPN’s Brian Windhorst recently suggested that Anthony Davis is poised for a healthy season, which would be a welcome change after he has gone through injury-plagued campaigns in Los Angeles. AD has only played over 70 games once in his first five seasons with the Lakers.
Davis’ impressive performances have been instrumental in the Lakers’ undefeated start as they saw wins over the Sacramento Kings, Phoenix Suns, and Minnesota Timberwolves. His standout game came in the season opener against the Timberwolves, where he tallied 36 points, 16 rebounds, four assists, and three blocks.
Moving forward, the Lakers face the Suns again on Monday, a tough contest in their quest to improve to 4-0. Fans will look to him alongside the evergreen LeBron James, who has just refused to age, to replicate his 35-point performance from their first meeting.
Anthony Davis named NBA Western Conference Player of the Week
They say good things come to those who deserve it, and rightfully so as Los Angeles Lakers forward Anthony Davis has been named the NBA Western Conference Player of the Week for the opening week of the 2024-25 season. Davis led the Lakers to a 3-0 start, where he averaged a league-high 34.0 points.

Most notably, he has had three 30-plus point performances, including 35 points and eight rebounds against Phoenix, and 31 points and nine rebounds against Sacramento. A stark contrast from how he performed and how the team panicked last season under former coach Darvin Ham.
The award has marked his sixth Player of the Week award as a Laker and 11th overall. He joined Lakers legends Elgin Baylor, Kobe Bryant, and Jerry West as the only players to start a season with three consecutive 30-point performances.
