Anthony Davis is at a point in his career where the team he plays for might not see him as a focal part in their quest to become a championship contender.
Nico Harrison believed the Kentucky star and his wide-ranging skills on both ends of the floor would help them become champions. His motto of ‘defense wins championships’ was echoed throughout the facilities of the Dallas Mavericks.
However, roster chemistry issues led to performance concerns, and eventually, Harrison was shown the door. His motto and vision followed him on the way out of American Airlines Center, and now, the Mavericks are in a hot mess.
At a time when owner Patrick Dumont was supposedly keeping Anthony Davis safe from being rushed back to play, there were also some rumors about him getting traded away. Either the Mavericks preferred to go in a different direction, or the superstar wanted to start a new chapter elsewhere; both parties involved were actively monitoring the trade market.
Then, in their game against the Utah Jazz, the 32-year-old suffered a freak injury. With just a little more than two minutes left in the game, Lauri Markannen drove along the baseline towards the rim.

Anthony Davis tried to slow him down, but then instantly clasped both his hands in pain as he walked to the bench. He eventually left for the locker room and did not return.
Fans tear into Anthony Davis for getting injured again
Another Anthony playing in the league had also injured his right hand while dunking over then-Utah Jazz player John Collins. But that time, Edwards, the Minnesota Timberwolves star, straightened out his dislocated thumb and went back to play.
On the other hand, Anthony Davis went to the bench, got his left hand looked at by the team’s medical staff, and then decided he could not play anymore.
Basketball fans felt this was a clear sign that the Chicago native was fragile, as he gets injured too often and even a slight one takes him out of the game. Check out examples of those reactions below.

Fans believe that for someone who earned himself a $175 million contract, he should at least show some competitive fight in a game that was close until the point when he got injured.
After that, the Mavericks could not find a way to win and ended up losing their second game of the month. With Anthony Davis injured, those losses could keep piling up.
Anthony Davis wants to earn a max extension this summer
His extensive injury history aside, Anthony Davis is on the radar of several Eastern Conference contenders. Some believe that they are a two-way threat, such as the NBA champion, away from challenging for a title.

AD’s preference would be to stay in Dallas and to get that extension this summer.
Tim MacMahon said on NBA Today
This revelation from the ESPN journalist who specifically covers the Dallas Mavericks is something that could be a sore point in trade talks.
Davis wants to sign what could probably be his last max extension. On the other hand, the Mavericks want to reduce their salary cap burden and also want good draft picks.

Those demands alone will shrink his market even further. However, if a team such as the Atlanta Hawks, who are already in the trade market, comes calling with a bunch of picks, the 10-time All-Star could be on the move.
