Anthony Davis and LeBron James
After a successful campaign to start the season, the Los Angeles Lakers finally met their match. The Phoenix Suns handed the Lakers their first loss of the season, putting their record at 3-1. Following the loss, both Anthony Davis and LeBron James quickly reassured fans of better play.
The 109-105 loss came despite a strenuous effort from Anthony Davis. Since LeBron James struggled to find a flow for the entirety of the game, the team failed to match their earlier productions.
We don’t expect to lose but we’re realists… but I’m happy the way guys competed and we played extremely hard… gotta go in and try not to lose two in a row.
Anthony Davis said
James and Davis both touched on the importance of continuity and revisited a challenge they’ve set during their 2019-20 Championship run.
Just wanna be able to bounce back and not let the snowball turn into an avalanche obviously when it comes to the loss column… but we want to be able to not let the losses come in bunches.
LeBron James added
The Lakers duo put a heavy emphasis on not allowing consecutive losses. For context, the 2020 Lakers squad that won the Championship allowed the event of a consecutive loss only three times. Davis almost mentioned the team has to be grounded when it comes to expectations for the season.

In the loss, Davis totaled 29 points and 15 rebounds while Austin Reaves chipped in 23 points and Rui Hachimura with 20 points. However, the team is positive in their recent performances and is bracing to quickly turn things around. The Lakers will take on the scorching-hot Cleveland Cavaliers to hand Donovan Mitchell and crew their first loss of the season.
Anthony Davis’ health instrumental for the Lakers title hopes
Anthony Davis has been known for his injury-riddled past but recent developments are displaying signs of dominance. According to ESPN insider and analyst, Brian Windhorst recently positioned Davis for a healthy season. An unusual turn of events, given the star’s tendency to miss games.
Davis is turning out to be one of the best performers this season. Averaging an impressive 34 points to go along with 11 rebounds per game. The star is also doing this at 57.1% accuracy, good enough to earn Western Conference Player Of the Week.
Although the ‘Brow’ suited up for only 76 games this past season, health is finally looking to be a non-factor. Shadowing his teammate, 39-year-old James is also planning to play the entire 82 games of the season. Barring any setbacks, the Lakers are poised to make some serious noise this season.
