Minnesota Timberwolves star guard Anthony Edwards spent much of this past year doing his best to be one of the better young players in the league.

Winning a gold medal in Paris alongside some of the greatest players to ever step foot on a basketball court, or while leading his Wolves to another Western Conference Finals appearance. The recently turned 24-year-old would have preferred if they went one step further to the NBA Finals, but quickly became aware of what he and his teammates lacked in order to win the franchise’s first-ever title.

He made it clear that he was going to work harder than anyone so that he could come back and silence critics who believed the young star did not do enough in the final few games.

Now, in the offseason, US Weekly has revealed that Anthony Edwards has been appearing in courts, not the basketball kind, over a paternity battle with Ayesha Howard.

Anthony Edwards’ ex Ayesha Howard allegedly demanded $500,000 and a public apology from the NBA star in their court battle.

Writes US Weekly

The Timberwolves guard claims that Howard, the mother of his daughter, Aubri, failed to file the paperwork that would grant her sole custody. This is after a court ordered both parties to file an agreement by May 20.

Ayesha Howard wants Anthony Edwards to apologize on social media

Anthony Edwards was already fuming when Ayesha Howard asked for $500,000 in damages. But the next part, as per the court documents retrieved by US Weekly, was what the Wolves star did not agree to.

His ex demanded a public apology from him that was required to be posted ‘on all of his official social media platforms, publicly retracting all false and defamatory or misleading statements made about her during’ the court battle and ‘affirming her integrity and her role as a mother of their daughter.’

US Weekly revealed

If the Paris Olympics gold medalist were to go through with this, it would basically flip all the narratives on his head. Howard wants Edwards to essentially take back all the defamatory statements he and his counsel made about her.

The 24-year-old had made it clear that he did not want anything to do with his daughter, Aubri. Since then, they were rumored to have settled on a massive payout.

However, the current demands seem to indicate that no such figure was agreed upon. That is why the social media influencer has come forward with a new set of demands so that she agrees to sign the custody agreement.

Ayesha Howard clarifies financial demands to Anthony Edwards

Initially, it was reported that Anthony Edwards’ team mapped out some terms that would forbid Ayesha Howard from speaking disparagingly about the Wolves star or posting pictures of their daughter on social media.

The 38-year-old did not agree to those terms, and Edwards’ counsel subsequently removed them from the agreement. After that, Ayesha Howard asked for the $500,000 in damages, which she explains has nothing to do with Aubri’s custody.

I want to make it clear that my request for compensation was never tied to agreeing to any custody orders. I asked for compensation due to the substantial financial and reputational damages I’ve endured during this prolonged litigation with Anthony Edwards.

This figure is over and above the child support the NBA star has to pay Howard. That is also yet to be settled after Aubri’s mother had initially tried to fight for child support in California.

But a judge ruled that the matter has to be settled in Georgia, since Aubri was born there. The state of Georgia has lenient rules on child support, which is probably why Ayesha Howard has demanded these damages.
