Anthony Edwards begs to differ from Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan’s hostile treatment of teammates
Anthony Edwards took a sly jab toward NBA legends Michael Jordan and the late Kobe Bryant in a recent interview.
Anthony Edwards disagree with Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant's approach
The Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards doesn’t mind dishing out controversial opinions from time to time. This time, he targeted NBA icons Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan. In a recent interview with ‘Interview Magazine’ Edwards indirectly criticized the two NBA legends. The criticism came as a result of the basketball philosophy of Jordan and Bryant.
It’s important to note that this is not the first time Edwards has thrown shade at former NBA players. Edwards’ remark regarding the absence of skill in the NBA outside of Michael Jordan’s era caused numerous national headlines. Now, he has seemingly done the same after criticizing Jordan and Bryant’s ‘treatment of their teammates.’
Jordan and Bryant were renowned for their brutal leadership approaches. The two legends had a reputation for getting into arguments with their teammates and for energizing them with trash talk. It is a polarizing approach but yielded results for both Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant.
Anthony Edwards says he doesn’t agree with Kobe and Michael Jordan’s leadership styles:

“You got to talk to players differently. Certain players can take it. I talk to some of my teammates like, ‘Hey, get your sh** together.’ But some players, you got to go talk to them on the… pic.twitter.com/Yj1kDVIb4z
Some think it’s necessary for bullying, while others think it’s important for the team’s success. However, Edwards does not seem to be a big fan of this approach. Hence, it remains to be seen what reactions his recent statements attract this time around.
Anthony Edwards once made a bold declaration regarding the late Kobe Bryant
Despite his recent comments, Anthony Edwards holds NBA legends like Michael Jordan and the late Kobe Bryant in high regard. Notably, Bryant was a different beast on and off the court. Before he passed away in 2020, the Lakers legend mentored several of the top NBA players, such as Kyrie Irving and Jayson Tatum.
Given that, Edwards once wished the same from Bryant and clarified his intentions in an interview. Irving and Tatum loved the mentorship from Bryant, and so did other players in the league. As such, the Timberwolves star also wished for the same.
To get the guys that aren’t as good as you to follow you, you’ve got to really teach them the way.” – Kobe Bryant.

During his 20-year career, Kobe Bryant was a member of the Los Angeles Lakers. He won five NBA Championships, two scoring titles, an MVP award, two Finals MVP awards, 18 All-Star selections, and four All-Star Game MVP trophies, among other honors. He was one of the best to set foot on the court. Even after his death, Bryant is respected and admired throughout the NBA community, its players, coaches, etc.
