Anthony Edwards was one of the Team USA players to win a first Olympics gold medal in their career. Playing alongside stars such as Stephen Curry and LeBron James, the Timberwolves star achieved one of his career goals this offseason. It is indeed an accomplishment that his brother expects to motivate him to greater success within the league.
Speaking about Edwards lately, his brother Antony also known as the rapper ‘bdifferent’, believes Ant-Man’s recent win will fuel his hunger for success with the Minnesota Timberwolves. In his view, competing on the world stage and emerging as winner, is a huge boost for Anthony Edwards.
I think winning the gold medal, is just gonna make him more hungry to win for the Minnesota Timberwolves.Antony Edwards on his brother, per a video posted by the Minnesota Timberwolves
The triumph at the Paris Olympics was itself a continuation of Edwards’ impressive Western Conference finals run last season. His brother also revealed the goals set by the NBA star many years ago. The Timberwolves player had written these on a whiteboard in their home. In the video, a goal of becoming the future McDonald’s All-American could be seen. Suffice to say, the 23-year-old not only became an All-American but also achieved USA Today All-USA first team honors!
Anthony and Antony Edwards grew up together and played basketball while at the Holy Spirit Preparatory School in Atlanta. However, the former rose to stardom when he got drafted from college as number one overall in the 2020 NBA Draft. As he enters his fifth season, Ant-Man will look to challenge again for the championship with the Timberwolves.
Anthony Edwards appreciated Timberwolves teammates having his back after poor form
With Anthony Edwards carrying the Minnesota Timberwolves through lots of games, it soon left him fatigued. As a result of that, he started having some poor performances on the court, particularly with his shooting game. But what are teammates for?
In an interview towards the end of last season, Edwards revealed how his teammates supported him throughout that period. When asked how it felt like not playing at his best, he said
It was beautiful, man. I think I was at home talking to my boys about it like, ‘Man, I’m not playing well. I’m not playing my best as far as shooting the ball goes, but my teammates still got my back.’ They still winning the game without me and that’s a great feeling.Anthony Edwards on his teammates’ support
With the franchise signing on new players this offseason, it looks like the Timberwolves are beefing up plans for the next season. While question marks surround the new additions, stars like Karl-Anthony Towns and Rudy Gobert are expected to lead the team, alongside Edwards.
