Anthony Edwards was hyped up after Minnesota Timberwolves win

Anthony Edwards and his Minnesota Timberwolves faced the West leading Oklahoma City Thunder. This was the second of the back-to-back clashes between the two young teams. In the first one, the Thunder won by seven.

That loss was the sixth for the Timberwolves this month as they struggle without their top two big men. In the last game, the combined presence of seven footers Chet Holmgren and Isaiah Hartenstein was too much for the home team.

Buoyed with that win, the Thunder jumped out to a lead in tonight’s game. They kept it that way for much of the third quarter as their home crowd cheered them on. The lead swelled to 25 points with seven minutes left in the third. They were still up seventeen with 3:41 left in the game.

From that point onwards, it was the turn of the visiting team. They started a comeback rally that stunned the Oklahoma City Thunder. First, they tied the game and forced it to overtime. Then they scored more than the home team to leave the court with a stunning victory.

Anthony Edwards did not have a monster game, but his teammates, Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Jaden McDaniels did. After the game, the trio were waiting for the interview to begin. But before the reporter could say anything, Ant Man yelled at his teammates.

Way to f*cking hoop, y’all!

Anthony Edwards said

This caused the reporter to pause what she was doing. She then proceeded to inform the trio that they were live on national television, which meant, that the NSFW swearing the 23-year-old just resorted to, was not ok.

Anthony Edwards’ monster block helped Wolves win

Usually, such any expletive words warrant a fine. The NBA has already slapped Anthony Edwards with some fines before. But it seems he did not care after his injury riddled squad beat the best team in the West.

He might not have had a major impact on scoring. But he did his part in other areas. He grabbed a game high thirteen rebounds along with again a joint-game high eight assists. But his most important contribution came in the dying seconds of overtime.

The Oklahoma City Thunder inbounded the ball with 22.8 seconds left. Then leading superstar Shai Gilgeous-Alexander took over and slithered his way to the rim. All this time, Edwards was roaming the left corner.

Once he saw the MVP frontrunner attempt a layup in the restricted area, he too went up for to contest it. Since Edwards was behind SGA, he slapped the ball out. It went straight to his teammate’s hands, and they won the possession back.

They went on to close the game with a 131-128 score. But more importantly, it was a victory that would give a morale boost to a team that was struggling all month. The Minnesota Timberwolves now have a series of road games where that energy could help them.
