The Dallas Mavericks defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 103-124 at the Target Center in Game 5 of the Western Conference Playoff Finals, clinching the series 4-1. The Mavs also advanced to the NBA Finals and will face the Boston Celtics. However, it was Timberwolves’ star man, Anthony Edwards, who garnered all the unwanted attention after his side’s loss to the Mavs.
Interestingly, after the Timberwolves’ Game 5 loss against the Mavs. Edwards had put a story on his Instagram account, trolling the Phoenix Suns, and deleted it later. However, this did not age well as the Timberwolves were outclassed by the Mavs, knocking them out of the NBA playoffs. Edwards’ performance against the Mavs was not enough to secure them the win.

They were talking so much sh*t, telling us we need to better make the playoffs, we ain't going to make the playoffs. We out of the playoffs but y'all, this is a disgrace.Anthony Edwards said on his IG Story
With the Timberwolves out of the playoffs, Edwards and Co also faced a lot of backlash from various NBA analysts.
On the sports side of things, Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving thrashed the Timberwolves in Game 5. Doncic and Irving both dropped 36 points each on the Timberwolves. Not only that, Donic was also named the Western Conference Finals MVP.
Anthony Edwards shares his views after Game 5 loss to Mavs
The Minnesota Timberwolves were knocked out at the hands of the Dallas Mavericks in game 5 of the WCF Playoff FInals. Notably, Anthony Edwards was at the forefront of possibly everything for the Timberwolves, but his effort was not enough this season. In addition, Edwards shared his views on his side’s game 5 loss to the Mavs.
After the match, Edwards claimed that he never went this deep into the NBA playoffs and was happy with his team’s performance this season. He also made an honest admission claiming that the Timberwolves will be back next season. In the post-match press conference, Edwards said, βWeβll be back next year.β Although one could feel the pain in Edward’s answer, he will surely be up and running for the upcoming season.
In addition, the Timberwolves’ star players Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns‘ performances were not enough to secure their side a victory in game 5. Edwards dropped 28 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 assists on the Mavs. Towns, on the other hand, dropped 28 points, 12 rebounds, and 2 assists in their side’s loss at the Target Center.
