Anthony Edwards and LeBron James

The Los Angeles Lakers tied the series 1-1 with a Game 2 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves, led by LeBron James’ strong two-way play. Off the court, James drew headlines for a fiery rant about NBA refs—something Anthony Edwards found amusing.

During the third quarter, James can be spotted making a run towards the ri,m but was called for a foul by the refs. James was left furious with the ‘soft-call’ and made his feelings clear. In addition, the mics caught James’ remarks, which have gone viral among the NBA community. However, it was Edwards’ response that made the moment hilarious.

James told the referees, “Now y’all wanna call that dumba** s**t” to which Edwards responded, “Woah that’s a tech! That’s a tech!”

It’s safe to say that James’ reaction was quite understandable, as many decisions went against him and his Lakers side in Game 1 of this series. James and Co. witnessed the same in this matchup as well, with Luka Doncic left annoyed at the refs during many intervals of the game. However, James and Doncic had the last laugh on Edwards in this game.

Together, James and Luka Doncic scored 52 points and dished out 16 assists. They were able to secure the match-ups they desired, including the perimeter showdown between Doncic and Rudy Gobert.

But all in all, the game was ugly. The Lakers at least won the game, but neither coach appeared pleased with their squad. Now going into Game 3, the NBA referees will have immense pressure upon them to deliver proper calls.

Anthony Edwards delivered a monstrous dunk against the Lakers in Game 2

Even if the Timberwolves lost, one cannot keep their star man, Anthony Edwards, from making a statement on the court. The great Wolves guard, who is known for making plays, had a spectacular slam over LA’s Jaxson Hayes in the third quarter. The move was so amazing that it had everyone in Crypto.com Arena (and NBA fans streaming at home) in a frenzy.

Ant drove for the basket, sprang into the air, and slammed the ball into the basket despite his body colliding with Hayes’s as the Wolves fell behind by 15 points. The LA center was powerless to do anything. A poster dunk right away. The dunk was so good it had the whole Timberwolves’ bench, along with the staff, applauding on their feet.

Despite the loss, Edwards had a great outing in attack, scoring 25 points, second to his teammate Julius Randle‘s 27 points. Given that, Edwards will take a lot of positives from this game going into Game 3 of this playoff series.

Luka Doncic made NBA history in Game 2 against the Timberwolves

Doncic’s postseason debut did not go as per plan for him, as the Lakers lost against the Timberwolves in Game 1 despite the Slovenian scoring 37 points. However, Doncic made sure to make amends in the following game, and he did. Doncic scored a whopping 31 points and gathered 12 rebounds to guide the Lakers to a win.

Not only that, the Lakers rallied early in Game 2 and led 58-43 at the break. Doncic, who concluded the first half with 22 points, five rebounds, and five assists, led them once more. The Lakers created history with this line.

Doncic is only the third Lakers player to finish a playoff half with at least 20 points, five rebounds, and five assists, per StatMamba on X. The late Kobe Bryant and Anthony Davis, for whom Doncic was traded, are the other two Lakers to do this.
