Anthony Edwards joined Kobe Bryant for a unique playoffs record.

The future is here for Anthony Edwards with his unstoppable performances in his first playoffs. The Minnesota Timberwolves guard dominated the reigning champions to take game 1 with an eruptive 43-point outing. With the win, Ant-Man also wrote his name in the NBA history books to join an elite club.

Anthony Edwards ended the Phoenix Suns season with a sweep by another 40-point performance. As a result, Ant-Man has joined the legendary Kobe Bryant as the only other player 22 years old or younger to score 40 points in back-to-back playoff games. This is quite the name for Ant-Man to be associated with as Bryant was considered one of the best young talents.

The star has reached new heights throughout this season but his performances in the playoffs have been special. Edwards is averaging 31.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 6.3 assists in the last five games which are much-improved stats from the regular season.

Anthony Edwards wished Kobe Bryant was his mentor

There are quite a few similarities between Edwards and Bryant. Before his tragic death in 2020, Bryant was a mentor for the young players in the league and would have done the same for Ant-Man. However, Edwards missed out on the opportunity as he was drafted in 2020.

While speaking with Yahoo Sports, Edwards expressed his admiration for the late star and called him the second-best shooting guard in league history behind Michael Jordan.

I definitely wish he could've been a mentor to me. He was that to a lot of people who are playing today. But unfortunately, things happen
