Anthony Edwards was in awe of Luka Doncic's long three-pointer.
Sometimes a player’s move is so impressive that it even manages to leave the opponent in disbelief. That is what happened to Anthony Edwards as he watched Luka Doncic go off to open Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals.
Luka Doncic started the game strong as he barely missed in the first quarter. The Slovenian showed his incredible range while he left Anthony Edwards‘ defense ineffective as he dropped an unreal 28-footer three-pointer. As Ant-Man was mic’d up during the game, the 22-year-old was seen explaining the shot to his teammates on the bench.
He set it right here bro. I went under, he stepped back right there that kid wearing my jersey at. He shot that. Half-court. Crazy.Anthony Edwards said
The play took with little over ten minutes left in the first quarter. Edwards first showed off his skills with a tip-dunk to make it a one-point game. However, Doncic came prepared in the game and dropped the almost half-court three-pointer to respond to Ant-Man’s dunk. After that, there was no stopping for Doncic.
The 25-year-old dropped 20 points in the first quarter to outscore the entire Minnesota Timberwolves‘ squad. Edwards and the elite defense of the Wolves were helpless in front of Doncic, who shot 63.6% from the field. Doncic’s early dominance kept the Mavericks in the game to get an eventual win. Edwards’ commendable efforts were unsuccessful, but his refreshing attitude towards Doncic’s shot won hearts.
Anthony Edwards admitted being helpless in front of Luka Doncic
With a 3-0 lead, the Dallas Mavericks had the chance to finish things off at home. However, the team’s poor shooting, especially Doncic’s, did not live up to the mark and resulted in a loss for the team in Game 4. But the star made up for it as he became the offensive pillar for his team to obtain a large lead in the first half of the next fixture.
Doncic made six long shots from beyond the arc which dominated the Timberwolves. Minnesota was not able to recover from the Mavericks’ huge lead and lost the game with a big difference in the score. After the game, during the press conference, Edwards admitted that Doncic’s range left the Timberwolves helpless.
He hit like three shots from the logo. Pretty much nothing we can do about it.Anthony Edwards said
Despite having a great playoff run, Edwards and the Timberwolves were outshined by the experience of the Mavericks. The Western Conference Finals MVP is now headed to his first NBA finals against the Boston Celtics after defeating the Timberwolves.
