Anthony Edwards talk about the physical challenges of his signature playing style

Fans have come to love Anthony Edwards as he has rapidly emerged as one of the NBA’s most electrifying players, known for his athleticism and high-flying dunks. However, in the Netflix documentary Starting 5, he made a surprising revelation about his dunks. This admission caught many off guard, as he can not stay a game without attempting a dunk.

Edwards throughout his career has given fans series of iconic dunks, such as his monstrous dunk over John Collins last season as well as the one over mentor Kevin Durant. However, despite these show-stopping plays, Ant Man explained that dunking takes a physical toll on his body, particularly on his hands and wrists which has made it less enjoyable than it looks.

I don’t like to dunk at all, to be honest. Because it hurts. I like to dunk on people. I want the fans to just be like, ‘oh, f**k, we couldn’t stop him tonight.’

Anthony Edwards said in the Netflix’s Starting Five

Edwards kind of contradicted himself when he claimed he generally disliked dunking due to the physical strain. He also admitted there’s one exception as he enjoys dunking on people.

The Minnesota Timberwolves’ star shooting guard has began the preseason in good form and with time, he might end up realizing his face of the league status. But he still needs to win a trophy and prove the legendary Magic Johnson wrong.

Anthony Edwards defends new teammate Donte DiVincenzo

As preparations for the new season gets underway, Anthony Edwards has appreciated the competitive spirit shown by his new teammate Donte DiVincenzo during the Minnesota Timberwolves’ 115-110 preseason loss to the New York Knicks. Fans were thrilled as during the game, DiVincenzo exchanged words with the Knicks’ bench while at the free throw line and later had a tense handshake with Knicks assistant coach Rick Brunson.

You can’t be mad at him, man. He makes all the right plays and shoots the cover off the ball. New York is definitely going to miss him. It’s f***ing incredible (playing alongside DiVincenzo). I mean, I don’t need the ball, man. … Playing with Donte is f***ing, I’m not going to lie, it’s fun as hell.

And while Edwards downplayed the significance of the incident, DiVincenzo denied making the comment which had circulated on social media. He explained that his remarks to Thibodeau were made in jest, though the exact words remain unknown.

Furthemore, DiVincenzo dismissed the idea that his trade from the Knicks to the Timberwolves fueled any extra motivation for the upcoming season, there may still be some unresolved friction with Brunson.

From the fans point of view, they are already looking forward to the first regular-season matchup between New York and Minnesota on December 19 in Minneapolis.
