Anthony Edwards reaching out to Michael Jordan for advice doesn’t sit well with Gilbert Arenas
Anthony Edwards made an honest admission about 'double-teams' which did not go down well with former NBA player, Gilbert Arenas.

Michael Jordan, Gilbert Arenas and Anthony Edwards
Anthony Edwards‘ game is frequently compared to Michael Jordan‘s on social media. Also, it seems like Edwards is taking that personally. As per reports, Jordan was recently contacted by Edwards to ask for guidance on handling double teams. However, this did not go down well with former NBA player, Gilbert Arenas.
Because teams are consistently sending doubles and traps at him, the two-time All-Star Edwards is having to fight hard for every basket this season. However, according to Arenas, the concept of double-team defense has changed with the game and the regulations since MJ’s time. Therefore, Jordan’s technical expertise is basically outdated aside from the entire idea.
“What year are we in? What year was Michael Jordan getting doubled? So the double teams that MJ was seeing with the illegal defense rules wouldn’t even apply here. Like the concept, I get it, just getting doubled, ‘What do you do?'”

Jordan was accustomed to being double-teamed because he was one of the greatest scorers of all time. Compared to other players in his generation, Jordan most likely saw the most double teams. He eventually figured out how to beat double coverage because he saw so much of it that it stopped bothering him.
But as Arenas said, the rules that MJ had to follow in the 1980s and 1990s are different from those of today. Arenas also discussed how MJ and Ant face distinct double teams because of their respective playing styles. Hence, it would be better if Edwards sought knowledge from someone who has faced similar problems in today’s era.
Anthony Edwards earlier made clear admission over getting ‘double-teamed’
After finishing 56-26 and making it to the Western Conference finals last season, the Timberwolves’ record dropped to 17-16 on January 2nd after losing 118-115 to the Boston Celtics. Anthony Edwards, who shot 5 of 16 for 15 points, six assists, and two turnovers, had a difficult game. After the game, Edwards spoke extensively regarding the double teams he’d been up against.
“Them doubling me, definitely it’s like, ‘Bro, what is going on?’ I’m trying to figure it out … I don’t know what to do honestly, but it’s not fun. I don’t want to look like I’m not trying or not as good as I am, because I am, but I can’t show it because I’m getting double-teamed.“

Pretty much the entirety of Anthony Edwards's postgame media was him talking about his frustration with the way teams are putting two on him, taking away his opportunities to be a scorer and forcing him to get off the ball.

Overall, Edwards has been about as productive as he was the previous season. Also, he has voiced his frustration several times this season. He may become even more upset if his team is unable to acquire another star to contribute more offensively. Even if there is still time to make things better, unless significant reinforcements are recruited, Edwards might not be destined to remain in Minnesota.
Recently, the Timberwolves have won consecutive games, having a 25-21 record in the NBA. It remains to be seen what happens next with Edwards and the Timberwolves going forward in the season.
