Anthony Edwards Gets Rude Reminder to Stay Humble From Phoenix Suns Announcer
Suns color commentator Eddie Johnson reminded Anthony Edwards of his trash talk about the Phoenix Suns from three playoffs ago.

One of the defining conversations of this year’s NBA playoffs has been around who will be the NBA’s next face. There are quite a few candidates in contention to grab this honor, whether by their play or by their words. The names of Anthony Edwards, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Luka Doncic and Victor Wembanyama all make some sense. However, it’s only Edwards of these four who has the media push to get it.
The ‘Ant Man’ has been an unabashed trash talker and a cocky fellow since day 0 in the NBA. He has had no qualms in goading the best players and legends whom he’s faced. And over the past year or so, Edwards also has largely had Ws to his name when he does these antics. He’s talked down on Kevin Durant, Nikola Jokic, Luka Doncic and LeBron James and has lived to tell the tale in the past two playoffs.
But trash talkers always walk on eggshells when they start talking way too cockily. This exact thing has now happened to Edwards for the second straight Western Conference Finals series. He talked a big game ahead of facing Kyrie Irving and Doncic last year before needing oxygen to get back on the court. He also showed some fearlessness this year before facing the OKC Thunder, but the Wolves got absolutely blown out.
The loss has led to the internet digging into his braggadocious past and unveiling a heavily ironic clip. Anthony Edwards was absolutely diabolical in the way he trash talked the Phoenix Suns when Doncic and his Mavericks took them apart in Game 7 of their second round series in 2022. However, the chickens have now come to roost as his own team barely scored the nine points he was trolling Phoenix for.
Phoenix Suns announcer Eddie Jones seized the opportunity after last night to give a piece of his mind to the 23-year-old. Jones posted a tweet reminding Edwards why his trash talk has potential to backfire.
This right here is why you cant talk until you win a chip yourself. 9 points in First Quarter. We remembered.

It is unlikely that these losses will affect Anthony Edwards’ demeanor. Much like Joel Embiid, Edwards is a naturally funny guy and a troll who just cannot help himself. Nevertheless, they provide rival factions a way to roast him for his attitude.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander showed Anthony Edwards isn’t in the same class as him
The Thunder dominated the West, with their stifling defense and efficient offense proving too much for both the Grizzlies and Timberwolves. This was evident in Wednesday’s game against Minnesota, where Oklahoma City’s first quarter was a masterclass. The Thunder outscored the Timberwolves 26-9 in the opening period as Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the charge with 12 points.
The Timberwolves struggled to find their rhythm, shooting just 3-of-20 from the field and missing all nine of their 3-point attempts. Anthony Edwards and Julius Randle were the only Wolves to score, combining for nine points. Meanwhile, Gilgeous-Alexander single-handedly outscored the entire Timberwolves team in the quarter. The Thunder’s dominance continued, and they entered halftime with a staggering 65-32 lead.
By then, Minnesota had more turnovers (14) than made field goals (12), often gifting Oklahoma City easy points. Gilgeous-Alexander finished with 34 points, 8 assists, 7 rebounds, and 2 steals, earning Western Conference Finals MVP honors in a unanimous vote. The Thunder’s performance was so dominant that it left the Timberwolves’ season in doubt, and the only question was whether they’d break the postseason record for largest margin of victory.
