Anthony Edwards wants to play in the NFL after he wins an NBA ring

Anthony Edwards doesn’t shy away from generating traction for himself and this time he expressed an interest in becoming a two-sport professional athlete. In a recent promo video for an upcoming ESPN cover story, Edwards mentioned his ambition to play in the NFL.

The Minnesota Timberwolves guard discussed this aspiration while he recreated a famous photo of Minnesota legends Kevin Garnett and Randy Moss alongside Minnesota Vikings star wide receiver Justin Jefferson. During the conversation, Anthony Edwards shared his plan to pursue football if he wins an NBA championship within the next 3-4 years.

I told my buddies, if I win a ring in the next 3-4 years, I’m going to play football.

Anthony Edwards said to Justin Jefferson

It is not surprising though, as Edwards has a strong football background, having played running back, quarterback, and cornerback during his youth. He eventually chose to focus on basketball, which has eventually paid off as he is seen as the next face of the NBA, even drawing comparisons with Michael Jordan.

Most recently, the young guard helped lead the Timberwolves to their first Western Conference Finals appearance in two decades. As for winning an NBA title, he can’t wait for that to finally shut up his critics.

Anthony Edwards and Justin Jefferson tease fans before iconic Moss-KG photo recreation

Before the NBA season starts, two stars in the Minnesota area, Anthony Edwards and Justin Jefferson, recreated an iconic photo to pay tribute to past legends. The plan, as revealed by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, was to feature Timberwolves legend Kevin Garnett and Vikings Hall of Famer Randy Moss.

Interestingly, both Garnett and Moss both began their legendary careers in Minnesota and went on to become Hall of Famers. And while KG won his only NBA championship with the Boston Celtics, his accomplishments with the Timberwolves include 10 All-Star selections and the 2003-04 MVP award.

Ant-Man has a long way to go to achieve all that KG did and more, but those who follow him closely know he has the attitude and skill to make it. Such as when he bet on himself despite being in the presence of future Hall of Famers at the Paris Olympics.
