Anthony Edwards was among many players who were left shell-shocked when the Dallas Mavericks traded away Luka Doncic. Suddenly, it dawned upon them that no one was safe from being let go.

At the time, the Minnesota Timberwolves star remarked that he was scared if the team were to trade him. He then joked to his front office that he would like a heads-up before they decided to do any such thing.

The secrecy with which the Mavericks and Los Angeles Lakers operated was what surprised everyone. They could not believe that the two franchises completed the deal without anyone knowing about it.

More importantly, agents or any other person could not impede the trade. Even ESPN’s Shams Charania was in disbelief when he first received the news. While hosting the Believe That Awards, Ant-Man told Charania to warn him of any such news.

If you know I’m fixing to get traded, you better (expletive) text me. Don’t leak that stuff on X… Send me a text. Let me know.

Anthony Edwards told Shams Charania

The 24-year-old does not want to be caught in a situation without knowing what is going on. That is why he wants the NBA Insider to inform him beforehand of any trade involving him.

Charania mentioned that sometimes the news itself becomes too good to be true. That is why he was surprised on the night Doncic was traded to the Lakers.

Anthony Edwards awards Charles Barkley, Skip Bayless, and Magic Johnson Hater Awards

Anthony Edwards and his crew were presenting the ‘Believe That’ Awards to people they thought were worthy of being the best in various categories. When it came to the ‘Hater of the Year’ Award, there were four contenders.

Olympic sprinter Noah Lyles and analysts Charles Barkley, Skip Bayless, and Magic Johnson were the nominees. Instead of handing out one winner, the Wolves guard said this.

Noah Lyles, you fast, but you a hating person. Charles Barkley, you a GOAT. Honestly, I had so much respect for you… You used a word like regressed… and I shot 40% from 3? All y’all won.

Anthony Edwards said

Edwards took exception to Barkley’s ‘regressed’ tag and reminded the Hall of Famer that he shot 40% from distance. He believes he improved last season, and his improvement in 3-point shooting has proved that.

The Wolves star did not mention why he believed Magic Johnson was a hater, but it seems the Lakers’ legend’s comments during the West Finals might have triggered Edwards. He eventually gave out the award to everyone.

Anthony Edwards confirmed to Candace Parker that he has worked on his mid-range game

After working on his 3-point shot last offseason, Anthony Edwards used that to lead the league in made shots. While speaking with Candace Parker on this award show, the WNBA legend asked the Wolves star what area he has worked on this time.

My mid-range. I ain’t shot no threes all summer.

Anthony Edwards replied

This confirms what Shams Charania revealed a few weeks earlier. The Georgia native has been watching tapes of Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant to add the mid-range game to his repertoire.

Parker then advised the 3-time All-Star not to completely depend on the mid-range, and use it as and when the situation needs it. She also asked him to try to win the MVP award next season.
