Anthony Edwards claims you can’t yell at teammates like Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant
Anthony Edwards stokes more controversy as he boldly criticized the leadership style of NBA legends, Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant.

Anthony Edwards disagrees with the leadership style of Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant
Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards might give rise to controversy here and there. He caught the anger of the NBA community when he criticized the skill set of the 1980s and 90s. This time, he took it a notch higher, criticizing the leadership styles of his idols, Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan. He made this know when he spoke with actor Chris Tucker on Interview Magazine.
During the interview, Anthony Edwards highlighted the evolving nature of leadership in the NBA. The Timberwolves star asserted that today’s approach often involves more subtle and personal methods of communication. His view differed with the hard-nosed leadership styles of the late Kobe Bryant and Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan.
I can agree to disagree, because in today’s game everybody’s different. You can’t talk to everybody the same. You got to talk to players differently. Certain players can take it. I talk to some of my teammates like,’“Hey, get your shit together.’ But some players, you got to go talk to them on the side. You can’t really cuss them out in front of everybody.

Everyone knows that both legends ruled their teams with an “iron fist.” Jordan and Bryant demanded excellence and held their teammates to impossibly high standards, sometimes at the expense of relationships. The Black Mamba’s beef with Shaquille O’Neal and Michael Jordan’s issues with Steve Kerr remain notable examples.

Ant-Man has, however, put himself in the eye of the storm, with the jab thrown at players during the Michael Jordan era. Earlier, his statements drew the ire of fellow legend Magic Johnson. With Edwards emphasizing new standards in leadership, the old standards have died down. Only time will tell if this approach of leadership leads to huge success for the Timberwolves star.
Anthony Edwards regrets calling out Dallas Mavericks Kyrie Irving during WCF
There are many cases of Anthony Edwards’ willingness to speak his mind. One incident featured his callout of Kyrie Irving after reaching the WCF. However, to the surprise of many, Edwards said he regretted that statement, as revealed in Netflix’s Starting 5 docuseries.
Yeah, I should’ve left Kyrie alone, yeah, going and saying that right after being dog-tired fighting back from a Game 7. I wish I could take that back.

The series captured Edwards as he made the comment about Uncle Drew after Game 7 against the Denver Nuggets. However, it also showed how he struggled in Game 1 of the WCF. In the footage, Edwards is seen asking teammate Jaden McDaniels to guard Irving, where Derrick Jones Jr. the questioned if Edwards was tired.
Despite his usual oozing confidence, the 2020 number-one draft pick had a tough game. Edwards scored only 19 points on 6/16 shooting, while Irving scored 30 points. The Mavericks went on to dominate the series, as they beat the Timberwolves in five games.
