The Netflix docuseries Court of Gold has already caught the attention of the sporting world. They get to see how former President Barack Obama took time out to motivate veterans such as LeBron James and Steph Curry, while also pushing the young guns such as Anthony Edwards towards Paris Olympics glory.

He famously called himself ‘Hooper in Chief’ while speaking at the send-off party. He then explained to the team of 12 the importance of going to Paris and showing to the world that basketball is officially America’s game.

But prior to that send-off part, Barack Obama spent time privately with Team USA members in Las Vegas. In one of the clips from Court of Gold, he was conversing with Joel Embiid and Anthony Edwards. The former President mentioned that the Minnesota Timberwolves guard can ‘hoop a little bit’. To this, the always outspoken guard said.

Man, y’all better stand down, I’m the truth. These boys know.

Anthony Edwards said

Hearing this, the 63-year-old called over Kevin Durant and LeBron James. He asked them if what Edwards claimed was accurate. Durant, whom Edwards idolizes, confirmed that there was nothing wrong with the young man calling himself that. James agreed that the Timberwolves star is building up his reputation.

Barack Obama impressed with Anthony Edwards’ swagger

Over the years, Barack Obama has had conversations with several elite basketball players. Many prefer to keep their voice low in front of the person who was elected back-to-back to lead the United States. But Anthony Edwards spoke his mind. That left the former President to say this.

You gotta have a little swagger like that.

Barack Obama said

Edwards does not leave anyone when it comes to trash talking. He did the same to his idol when he and his Timberwolves swept the Phoenix Suns in the playoffs last season. He continues to do that to other players this season as well.

His swagger was one of the prime entertainment factors in Team USA’s Paris Olympics bid. He did not hold back when talking smack to fellow Olympians. His famous troll of Steph Curry after they won gold is still fresh on the minds of basketball fans.

At the same time, the veterans trolling him have also become part of basketball folklore. After winning gold in Paris, the 23-year-old did reveal that going forward, he will only play in Olympics basketball. That means, he won’t commit to playing in FIBA championships as he looks to claim his name as ‘The truth’.
