With no Stephen Curry in the lineup, the Golden State Warriors are very shorthanded on the offensive end. The Warriors succumbed to their 11th defeat in their last 16 games without Curry on Friday night. The Minnesota Timberwolves, led by Anthony Edwards, registered a convincing 127-117 victory over the Warriors at the Chase Center on Friday night.

The Dubs have now lost four games in a row and find themselves at eight place in the Western Conference standings with a 32-34 record. They are two games behind the seventh seeds, the Los Angeles Clippers.

Meanwhile, the Timberwolves snapped their three-game losing streak and improved their record to 41-26 as they sit at sixth place in the standings.

Following Jimmy Butler‘s ACL tear, the Warriors are seeing their season dwindle with every passing game. They are far from contenders this season, but will be hoping to see the return of Stephen Curry sooner rather than later as they try to make it to the playoffs.

In the 2024 NBA playoffs, Anthony Edwards announced himself as one of the top players in the league by taking out the reigning champions, the Denver Nuggets, in seven games in the Western Conference Semifinals. Since then, Edwards has risen to become one of the best players in the league, with some calling him the future face of the league.

Stephen Curry and Anthony Edwards share a healthy relationship with each other. The two shared the locker room during their time together with the Team USA Men’s Basketball team during the 2024 Paris Olympics, where they won the gold medal.

Earlier this season, Curry split from Under Armor after a 13-year partnership and has been on a sneaker-free agency since. In a game between the two sides back in December, Curry was seen wearing Edwards’ signature Adidas sneakers, which delighted the young superstar.

Following the Wolves’ win, Anthony Edwards was asked what he had learned from Steph Curry as a person during his post-match media scrum. Edwards said:

He actually don’t know a lot of rap music. That’s the best thing I learned about him.

Curry is expected to miss the next week at least due to injury. With just 16 games to go, the Dubs will be hoping to see their star player back on court very soon.

Anthony Edwards names Stephen Curry as the greatest point guard of all time

There has been no player like Stephen Curry in the history of the NBA. Drafted as the seventh pick in the 2009 NBA draft, Curry will forever be known for being the pioneer of modern-day basketball. The 37-year-old has revolutionized the game by popularizing the three-point shot and is often brought up in GOAT debates.

Anthony Edwards, who never shies away from speaking his mind, labeled Curry as the greatest point guard of all time and made it clear that he has no problem with Curry being chosen ahead of him as an All-Star starter.

It’s definitely a blessing to be an All Star, however it go. But people be trying to make me feel some type of way because they feel some type of way. I actually hate the fact that folks be talking about it like ‘he should’ve been the starter.’ It doesn’t really matter bro. It’s Steph Curry bro. The greatest point guard of all time. I ain’t tripping.

The Warriors guard has won four championships in his 16-year career so far. He has won two league MVPs, with his second MVP making him the first-ever unanimous MVP in league history. To go along with his MVPs, he is a 12-time NBA All-Star, two-time scoring champion, and one-time Finals MVP.

Anthony Edwards put on a show against the Golden State Warriors

After a difficult week where they lost three straight games, the Wolves had the perfect opportunity to break the streak against a Warriors side without Curry, Draymond Green, and Butler. It was Anthony Edwards who led the way as he ended his night with a game-high 42 points, eight rebounds, and five assists.

The 24-year-old shot at 59% from the field and made four of his nine three-point attempts. It was a solid all-round performance in 37 minutes of playing time from the young guard.

Edwards also made NBA history with his incredible performance. The Wolves guard now has the fourth most points by a player before turning 25 in NBA history, passing Carmelo Anthony. Edwards has always been a student of the game. His athleticism, combined with improved three-point shooting, has propelled him to one of the best players in the league this season.

During the offseason, the 24-year-old took advice from Michael Jordan on improving his offensive game, and the results are there for everyone to see: he is averaging a career-high 29.7 points this season.
