Anyone who watches basketball knows that Anthony Edwards is one of the few young players currently to possess extremely rare self-confidence.

It is not as if other players do not believe in themselves, as they would not be playing in the NBA. Those who have even a sliver of doubt end up being forced to play overseas or even look at career opportunities outside of basketball.

But the Georgia native wears his confidence on his sleeve. Whether it is on the court or even during a simple chat with other greats of the game alongside a former President, Edwards’ swag does his talking.

Adidas, the German sportswear giant, has tapped into that swagger as they look to recapture a share in a market generally dominated by Nike. They have been releasing quite a few top-notch commercials, but the latest one has Ant-Man taking it over the top.

The commercial starts off with the Minnesota Timberwolves superstar trying to play an arcade game titled Anthony Edwards 2, which happens to be his latest signature shoe. When his friend comes over to ask why the superstar continues to play the game, he responds.

Man, I’m my only competition.

As he says this, the first opponent his friend draws up looks eerily similar to Victor Wembanyama. Then, the 24-year-old calls out ‘weight room‘ as he swishes a three-pointer, suggesting the Frenchman needs to put on weight even though he can hold his ground without it.

Anthony Edwards takes shots at league MVPs

After defeating Victor Wembanyama’s alleged lack of swag and his flailing long arms, Anthony Edwards continued to take on a few more NBA players.

The first one is evidently someone who is a regular in trade rumors and takes an awfully long amount of time to shoot free throws. That had to be a direct shot at Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo.

When the next player appeared, the graphic suggested that the said athlete had ‘two many MVPs’. Along with his 98 equestrian skills, it is evidently a shot at Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic.

Next was a player who had a referee alongside him, blowing the whistle. The graphic claimed that the said player’s accessory was the ‘whistle’, and that he was exceptional in the mid-range game.

That had to be a shot at Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, as no one is better known for being really good at using the whistle to their advantage.

In the graphic involving the Oklahoma City Thunder star, it seems Anthony Edwards, along with Adidas, took a shot at SGA’s signature shoe with Converse.

Since Antetokounmpo has a few with Nike, and Jokic has his own with the Chinese brand 361 degrees, it seems this was their way of letting them know that the Anthony Edwards 2s, priced at $130, were better than those worn by players with six league MVPs between them.

Anthony Edwards saves the best for the last

After defeating a young player primed to reach the summit, and three league MVPs, Anthony Edwards and Adidas saved the best troll for the last.

The commercial shows a player seemingly out of breath gingerly walking up to try to guard the Wolves star. It seems this is to troll Lakers’ superstar Luka Doncic, who was out of breath when he faced Edwards in last season’s playoffs.

It don’t matter who on the floor! I’m the top dog, man.

This was his way of making it clear that the competition does not bother him, and that the Atlanta native firmly believes he is better than any of them.

Unsurprisingly, Edwards left some of his favorite superstars, LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, and the other Paris Olympics teammates out. It seems he was careful not to go up against his international teammates.
