Anthony Edwards goes viral for the wrong reasons as he walks off the court without shaking hands with Dallas Mavericks players
For Anthony Edwards, winning tonight’s Game 5 was crucial to bring the Western Conference Finals back to a fighting position for the Minnesota Timberwolves. At least that is what he suggested after winning Game 4. However, Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks blew them out of contention, which led Edwards to do something that made him go viral on the internet.
A video clip of the game showcased Anthony Edwards walking off the court. That is, while his teammates were shaking hands and dapping up the Dallas Mavericks. He did not shake hands with any of his opponents and just left the floor.
This suggested he did not take the loss well. However, for basketball fans, it showed Edwards in the wrong light. One should be able to take the loss and at least appreciate what their opponents did.
He seemed embarrassed by how he and his team performed not only in this game, but also throughout the series. After the way they won the semi-finals, everyone thought the Minnesota Timberwolves would take the game to the Mavericks.
Instead, the Dallas Mavericks did enough to win the Western Conference Finals 4-1. After losing to Edwards and his teammates in Game 4, the Dalla team put up probably their best game of the playoffs.
Anthony Edwards meets and daps up Luka Doncic after the press conferences
Edwards did mention in the press conference that Luka Doncic balled out in the game. He continued that appreciation when he met the Dallas Mavericks superstar after completing his press conference duties. Pictures show the young Timberwolves superstar shaking hands and dapping up the Western Conference Finals MVP.
The two battled each other throughout the series. They also had some level of trash talk exchange between them, although Doncic did not want to reveal what was said. But it seems the two appreciate and respect each other’s game.
Now Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks go back to rest and prepare for the NBA Finals, whereas Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves will spend time reflecting on how they can improve for next season.
