Anthony Edwards' recent struggles against the OKC Thunder has made fans aware of his troll video back in 2022.

For the first time since 2012, the Oklahoma City Thunder advanced to the NBA Finals after defeating the Minnesota Timberwolves 124-94 in Game 5. Stopping Anthony Edwards has been a major factor in the Thunder’s success. However, Edwarards has been making headlines lately for something else, something for which he slandered the Phoenix Suns in the past.
For context, in the 2021-22 NBA season, the Suns got blown out by the Dallas Mavericks during round 2 of the NBA Playoffs in Game 7. That time, Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards heavily trolled the Suns for their 30-point blowout loss. Now, Edwards and his side faced a similar situation against the Thunder in Game 5 of the WCF Finals.
This Edwards clip has gone viral, especially for his words, which have come back to haunt him. For Ant, he and his side were worse than the Suns, as they scored just 9 minutes in the first quarter against the Thunder: a new low. OKC’s double teams have neutralized the 23-year-old, giving him limited driving space. He has been compelled to jump shot instead.

Ant had just 9 points and 5 rebounds in the first half of the game. However, for most of the Western Conference Finals, Edwards has not been at his best. He only scored 16 points on 13 shots in the previous game against the Thunder.
In contrast, Thunder star man Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has consistently dominated the playoffs. In addition, NBA analysts have criticized Anthony Edwards for the Timberwolves’ and Edwards’ performances against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The 23-year-old, who was hailed as the league’s future face, is about to lose in the Western Conference Finals for the second time in a row. In his harsh remarks, Charles Barkley also implied that Edwards is not at all prepared to serve as the league’s ‘face.’
NBA great Isiah Thomas made his case clear on the Thunder’s defense on Anthony Edwards
The Thunder completely neutralized Anthony Edwards and his offensive prowess during Game 5 of the WCF Finals. So much so that NBA great Isiah Thomas dissected the OKC Thunder’s defense by drawing comparisons to the Pistons’ strategies against Michael Jordan. A key member of the Bad Boys Pistons, Isiah Thomas, notably faced Jordan in the late 1980s.
We wanted to make him(Michael Jordan) a jump shooter. That’s what OKC right now is doing to Minnesota. They’re making Ant Edwards a jump shooter, they’re double-teaming him off screens, high screen-and-roll, side screen-and-roll, and you see in transition, everybody’s loading to the ball.

In the first round, Edwards easily defeated a shaky Lakers team without any true defensive depth. He outperformed the Golden State Warriors, who were missing Steph Curry, in the semifinals. This time around, he had no excuse against the #1 seed OKC Thunder, who were known for their strong defense throughout the 2024-25 NBA season.
Coach Finch shares his honest verdict on Anthony Edwards’ struggles against the Thunder
OKC is a top-tier defense team. Their physicality is one of their greatest advantages. This resounding Conference Finals victory made it clear. Cason Wallace, Alex Caruso, and Lu Dort played outstanding defense against Edwards. Although some of it might have been overly harsh, it completed the task. One thing was clear: Edwards was kept quiet.
In addition, Timberwolves HC Chris Finch opened up on Edwards’ struggles after the game during the post-match presser.
Obviously, he’s got to learn to play against that physicality. And that kind of holding all the time, they made it hard for him… He’s gotta find some easier buckets, I gotta help him do that. I think we were never able to establish something consistent with him.

In each game, Edwards averaged 23.0 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 4.6 assists. Compared to his regular-season average, that is 4.6 points per game lower. The Minnesota All-Star had three of five games with fewer than 20 points. Even though Ant led the NBA in three-point shooting this season, his three-point shooting percentage was a pitiful 28.2 percent, showcasing his inconsistency in the playoffs this season.
