Currently, Anthony Edwards and Victor Wembanyama are unanimously considered two of the best young players in the NBA, as the league looks towards its next great players.
The two are often in conversation to be the next ‘Face of the NBA’, with the Minnesota Timberwolves star slightly ahead of the Frenchman due to his ever-expanding game.
Since Wembanyama’s Spurs have not become a playoff threat, he is not yet in the circle of being considered one of the best players in the league.
Injuries have stopped him from having a breakout year last season, but this season seems to be finally giving him the space to do so. In the meantime, Edwards’ improved game has also become a major talking point.
Then, when the two collide, it often leads to some interesting matchups. For instance, their latest battle saw the two come face-to-face on the final possession.
As Edwards received the ball, the 7′ 4″ center switched on to him. The sheer sight of the lanky phenom standing in his way left him stunned.
When you see me, I was like, ‘Damn.’ I was like, ‘I got the shot, do I drive (by) him?’ I was confused… He’s so tall bro. He take away everything. He’s one of a kind.

The Wolves’ superstar continued to reveal that he thought about passing it up to teammate Julius Randle, as he was worried Victor Wembanyama was going to block his shot. Eventually, the Georgia Bulldog drove past the Spurs star and scored the winning basket.
Anthony Edwards gets ‘MVP’ chants after stellar show
Anthony Edwards‘ final shot became the difference between his Minnesota Timberwolves and the San Antonio Spurs. After the game ended with a score of 104-103, the home fans had a chant in store for their most important superstar.

As the 24-year-old was being interviewed in the middle of the court, Wolves fans started chanting ‘MVP’. Their chants were loud enough for the reporter to stop asking Edwards any questions.
Going by his flamboyant self, Edwards put his fingers up in the air to acknowledge them with a wide smile on his face. After all, in the midst of the chaos ensuing in the state, the guard was giving them something to cheer about.

He has been on a tear this New Year after being schooled by his head coach for quitting on his teammates in a blowout loss to the lowly Brooklyn Nets.
It seems Anthony Edwards has renewed his purpose and is routinely leading his team in points or assists as they look to continue their climb up the Western Conference ladder.
Julius Randle’s exceptional defense stopped Victor Wembanyama from scoring game-winner
After Anthony Edwards scored the go-ahead floater, the San Antonio Spurs still had more than 13 seconds and a timeout left to use. They took the opportunity to scheme a play where they would hand the ball to Victor Wembanyama.
Knowing how the lanky center has exceptional quickness for his size, and is a nightmare to guard once he elevates for a shot, his teammates handed him the ball with a little over 10 seconds to go.
As he tried to probe the middle section of the court, Timberwolves forward Julius Randle latched onto the Paris Olympics silver medalist like a leech.
The 31-year-old used all of his 250lb strength to keep Wembanyama from being able to drive into the paint, or even separate for a score. Even though he is nearly half a foot shorter than the Spurs star, Randle had his opponents’ number.

Victor Wembanyama tried a last-ditch shot over the top, but the Wolves star’s hand was there to impede his vision. The ball bounced off the rim, and the Spurs could not make anything of it.
