Anthony Joshua
Anthony Joshua vs Kubrat Pulev is history, and what a night Anthony Joshua had. The Brit completely dominated the Bulgarian “Cobra”, before knocking him out in the 9th round, thereby successfully defending his WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and IBO heavyweight titles.
The fight took place at the Wembley Arena in London, with notable boxers like the great Floyd Mayweather in attendance.
A flurry of uppercuts from AJ!
There wasn’t much action in the first round, with both the fighters trading a few jabs. A cautious Anthony Joshua kept Pulev at bay, with his superior reach advantage. The fighters upped their games in the second round, with AJ connecting Pulev with a good combo, although the Bulgarian held his defence. Then there were a few jabs exchanged, bringing the round to an end. The third round, got off to a slow start, at the halfway mark, Anthony Joshua landed a flurry of right hands, unleashing the fury on Pulev, knocking him down twice. In the fourth round, Pulev somehow got back to his feet. Anthony Joshua had the round in control. The fifth round, began like every other round, but AJ connected with a hard right hook, rocking Pulev. Nothing much, in the fifth round, apart from that.
The sixth round, saw a lot of hugging and less action. Going into the seventh, the in-control AJ, landed 4 huge uppercuts on Pulev, but the Bulgarian stood strong with his iron chin. The eighth round saw Kubrat edge Anthony Joshua with quite a few jabs. And, finally in the ninth round, Anthony Joshua rocked the Bulgarian, with four uppercuts and then knocking him down with 35 seconds to go, and then landing another big hook, putting Kubrat to sleep.
Well, Anthony Joshua looks like he will be facing Tyson Fury next!!!
