Gary Woodland won the hearts of golf fans all around the world following an inspirational victory at the Texas Children’s Houston Open on Sunday. Following his win, LIV Golf star Anthony Kim sent a message to him.

Woodland, the former U.S. Open winner, has undergone several hardships in the past few years. In 2023, he was diagnosed with a brain tumor. After undergoing a surgery in September, he would return to golfing action in 2024.

The surgery has left a huge mark on the 41-year-old golfer. Earlier this month during The Players Championship, Woodland opened up about his struggles and revealed that he had been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

On Sunday, the golfer entered the final round of the Houston Open, leading by 1-shot. With 4 birdies and 1 par, he shot a 3-under 67 score. This performance saw him finish 5 shots ahead of runner-up Nicolai Hojgaard and claimed his first victory since 2019.

Anthony Kim, a 3-time PGA Tour winner, would send a message to Woodland following his win. The LIV Golfer, who has had his own personal life struggles, would call his compatriot’s victory “inspiring” on X.

Earlier this year, Kim himself completed an incredible comeback in golf as he won the LIV Golf Adelaide in February. In the final round, he took down Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau to claim his first victory since April 2010, when he coincidentally won the Houston Open (called Shell Houston Open back then) through a playoff round.

Since that triumph, Kim has finished T31, T17 and 56 in his next 3 LIV Golf events. Following the South Africa event, he is 4th in the LIV Golf individual standings behind Elvis Smylie, DeChambeau and Rahm.

Anthony Kim sent prayers to Tiger Woods following his recent car crash

On Friday, golf great Tiger Woods was involved in another car crash. While, fortunately, nobody was injured, Woods was arrested and later released on bail on charges of DUI. Anthony Kim would then pray for him.

The incident regarding Woods took place around 2 p.m. near his residence in Jupiter, Florida. The former World No.1 would try to take over a cleaner truck while driving an SUV.

While the golfer avoided a collision while swerving away, his Land Rover would clip the truck’s trailer, resulting in it flipping over.

This development took place just a few days after Woods played in the TGL finals. This was the first time he had taken part in any sort of competitive action in over a year.

Kim, who was once heralded as the “next Tiger Woods“, would make a post regarding him on X. While calling him (Woods) an inspiration to many, he would share some well-wishes for the 15-time major champion.

After his LIV Golf Adelaide win, Kim received praise from Woods. The 82-time PGA Tour winner would compliment him for his triumph and lauded him for overcoming his personal life struggles.

The major question now is whether Woods will play at the Masters Tournament following this incident. Only time will reveal the answer to this.
