Anthony Pettis set to make his PFL debut on April 23; takes on Clay Collard
Anthony Pettis is set to make his PFL (Professional Fighters League) debut after signing up with the promotion, back in December, last year. The former UFC Lightweight champion will be taking on Clay Collard on the 23rd of April, in a lightweight bout. Pettis will be looking forward to claiming the lightweight championship, here as well, along with a grand prize of 1 million US dollars.
Anthony Pettis, last fought as recently as December 19, 2020, while he was still with the UFC. He took on Alex Morono, eventually winning via. unanimous decision. Just three days later, he revealed that he wouldn’t be renewing his UFC contract, and then he signed with PFL, the very next day.
Showtime vowed to put on a show. He tweeted, “Main event. April 23rd. I promise its going to be a show. @ProFightLeague.”
Pettis is a finisher!
There is no question about the talent Anthony Pettis possesses. The former UFC lightweight champion has notable wins over Benson Henderson, Donald Cerrone and even Charles Oliveira. He also holds the distinction of being the first man to knock out Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson.
His opponent Clay Collard is making his return to combat sports, after almost 2 years. He last fought Randall Wallace, winning via. unanimous decision, at the Final Fight Championship 35: Egli vs. Holt. He has also tried his hand at the UFC, for a brief time, between 2014 and 2015.
Can Showtime Pettis start off with a bang?
