PFL 1: Clay Collard def Anthony Pettis by unanimous decision of the judges and produced a major upset

The first night of the PFL Season 3 opener didn’t go as expected for the fight fans around the world. The two-time PFL champion Natan Schulte lost the fight against Marcin Held, another two-time champion, Lance Palmer who is riding an 11 fight win streak faced his first PFL loss against Bubba Jenkins and former UFC Lightweight champion Anthony Pettis faced a loss against Clay Collard.
Anthony Pettis entered this fight as fans favorite with betting odds hugely in his favor against Clay Collard but the fight didn’t go as expected and in the second round of the fight Collard almost finished Pettis but he somehow survived it to make it to the final round.
At the starting of the fight, Collard kept Pettis away with his straight-line attacks and body shots. Pettis found it hard to adjust timings for his shots and Collard kept pushing him away by some nice defensive shots.
But major damage happened to Pettis in the very second round when a straight right from Collard send the ex-champion crashing down to the canvas. Anthony Pettis somehow survived this but to eat one right hand in the same round. He was lucky enough to be saved by the bell.
Anthony Pettis finally landed his trademark kick in the third round

Anthony Pettis took some heavy beating in the first and second round of the fight but in the third round of the fight, he landed his trademark leg kick that left Clay Collard wobbling on his feet for a while.
Following this head kick a jumping knee send Collard to the canvas but he survived this and the fight went to the end of three rounds. At the end of three rounds, judges declare Clay Collard as the winner by unanimous decision.
