Anthony Richardson once again was subject to intense scrutiny after the Indianapolis Colts busted their winning streak with a 23-20 loss at the hands of Houston Texans. Giving the opponents a 17-10 lead at halftime, the quarterback’s embarrassing stats accumulated in two-quarters of the game have given fans plenty to question his credibility.

Drafted as the second overall pick in 2023, the Colts had high expectations from Richardson but after the 9-8 end last season; things hardly seem to be improving. Richardson entered the game with a completion percentage of 48.5 for his pass and finished the game at 31.25% on 25 attempts, which is the lowest since 2014 and the 10th lowest since 2000.

However, that was the later part as the quarterback already disappointed the fans by completing merely two of his 15 total passes for 81 yards, and a touchdown pass as he threw a 69-yard touchdown pass aimed at Josh Downs. On top of that, he threw an interception which turned out to be a big play for the Texans.

Taking advantage of the interception, they succeeded with a 7-yard touchdown drive and took the 17-10 halftime lead with only 17 seconds left in the second quarter. The only impactful play made by Richardson for his team was the 69-yard touchdown throw, which still couldn’t bring them the victory.

While the second-year quarterback merely completed 10 of his total 32 passes for 175 yards along with the touchdown and interception, his opposing quarterback CJ Stroud completed 25 of his 37 passes for 285 yards and a touchdown.

One fan blasted Richardson, writing, “Worst qb of all time??” while another joined in writing, “Atrocious. Should have traded up for Young. He would have thrived in that system.” Here are some of the fan reactions:

Since the Colts’ offense seemed stagnant during Richardson’s reign, a discussion has erupted in the league of whether the quarterback is capable of fulfilling the high expectations from him. The team needs him to step up as they hope to remain competitive to clinch the playoff berth. They are next scheduled for another challenging matchup against the Minnesota Vikings, who are 5-2.
