A few weeks back one play cost Anthony Richardson his goodwill amongst fans and his spot as the starting quarterback of the Colts. The quarterback vowed to serve his penance and come back better. The expectation was that he meant next season but little did fans know that he meant a few weeks.
Anthony Richardson has led the Indianapolis Colts to a 2-1 record since his return and has 6 touchdowns and after tonight’s win against the Patriots, scored two game-winning touchdown drives for the team. The 22-year-old quarterback scored a rushing touchdown early on in the game and celebrated it with a 360-degree jump.
Despite his impressive start, his problems with turnovers persisted as he threw 2 interceptions today. However, when it mattered the most Anthony Richardson turned up for the Colts.
Anthony Richardson gave the Colts a one-point lead with 12 seconds in the game
In the fourth quarter, he led a successful touchdown drive that resulted in the Colts trailing the Patriots 23-24. The options available for the team were to either kick the field goal, risk the Patriots getting into field goal range and lose the game, or take a chance and go for the two-point conversion.
The decision was simple and the Colts chose to go for the two-point conversion. The quarterback faked a handoff to the running back before he charged his way into the endzone to close the game out himself. Fans were delighted to see the quarterback achieve success and live up to his potential. This is how they reacted via X:

He wasn’t perfect today by any stretch, but when it mattered the most, he made the plays that needed to be made in the clutch moment. He’s only 22 and is still growing.

Anthony Richardson overcame two brutal drops on long dimes during the final drive to throw a 4th-and-game TD and then scored the game-winning two-point conversion by being bigger and stronger than anyone on the field. Great day to be great.
