Anthony ‘Showtime’ Pettis is headed to the PFL; will make his debut in 2021

It’s ‘Showtime’ in the Professional Fighters League. Just days after announcing that he was a free agent after his UFC contract ended, Anthony ‘Showtime’ Pettis has found a new home in the form of PFL. He will soon be making his PFL debut in the year 2021. The news was first broken by ESPN and later it was confirmed by Pettis himself and by the PFL’s official Twitter handle.
Anthony Pettis is coming off a victory over Alex Morono, which was held as recently as December 19,2020, following which the UFC veteran’s UFC contract expired. He will be looking forward to making a mark in his new home as well.

“New deal alert”, Pettis tweeted on signing with the PFL. He is expected to compete in the lightweight division.
“IT’S SHOWTIME! Welcome to the PFL, Anthony Pettis”, PFL’s official Twitter handle tweeted, following the veteran’s signing. It will be interesting to see how the former UFC and WEC mainstay fares in PFL. Anthony Pettis has struck lightweight gold in both UFC and WEC, and he has fought in the welterweight division of the UFC as well, where he famously defeated the previously ‘never knocked out’ Stephen Wonderboy Thompson, with a spectacular ‘Superman Punch’.
As a result, Pettis will be joining other notable names like former UFC heavyweight Fabricio Werdum and boxing champ Claressa Shields. The PFL have planned for a cracker of a year, since they haven’t conducted a single event in the year 2020, due to the coronavirus.
