New York Yankees will be missing their star outfielder Juan Soto in 2025 as he signed a mega-deal with the rival New York Mets in the offseason. His deal caught the attention of the sports world as he signed a record-breaking 15-year $765 million deal.
While the Yankees are ready to fill up Soto’s spot and have made significant additions to the lineup, he is still missed by his former teammates. Anthony Volpe in a recent press conference said that he misses his old teammate but is satisfied and looking forward to 2025 with a new lineup of players.
Volpe said he’s grateful to Juan Soto for what he had done for the NY Yankees last season and how much he has personally helped him too. Soto was one of the key players to boost the team in the World Series vs. the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Everything about him will be missed. I think that’s not taking anything away from what we have this year, it’s just respect to him and all the stuff he’s able to help me and help our team with.

Although the team ended up losing in five games, Soto’s contribution is still talked about in the clubhouse. Volpe further talked about the pressure of wearing the pinstripes, saying it’s something he has to deal with and is proud to be part of the organization.
He further added that what he feels for the team, the fanbase, and the city is something irreplaceable and he’s thankful to be part of that. “I wouldn’t rather do it for any other fanbase, any other team, any other city,” he said.
Juan Soto talks about his experience in the Bronx
In a recent press conference prior to the New York Mets Spring Training camp, Juan Soto commented on his experience with the NY Yankees last year. He said that he learned a lot being in the Bronx, and it is an experience he’ll forever cherish.

Soto’s defect from the Yankees to the Mets caused a wild uproar in the social media war. It was quite a race to see which team would finally get the superstar outfielder’s services, and the winner came out to be the cross-town Mets.
It was a really nice experience. It taught me a lot.

Yankees’ final offer to Soto was a 16-year $760 million but they still failed to compete with the Mets whose extra contract additions made Soto sign with the team. While his defect created a hole in the pinstripes lineup, they still added power players like Paul Goldschmidt, Cody Bellinger, Max Fried, Devin Williams, and others in the offseason.
