Zay Flowers is using the offseason to hone his running prowess. The Baltimore Ravens wide receiver was one of the surprise packages of the 2023 season, almost beating CJ Stroud to the Offensive Rookie of the Year award.

Flowers recently shared a video of his training routine on social media. In it, one of his friends (offscreen) threw a lofty pass which the 23-year-old quickly ran and caught. Now the amazing part of the clip was Flowers completed the drill while climbing a steep hill.

Clearly, the first-round pick watched a lot of Walter Payton videos. The legendary Chicago Bears running back had a slope near his house, where he would run at a breakneck pace to develop his calf muscle, which allowed him to increase his speed.

It’s a method that several players have used over the years, including arguably the fastest player in the NFL, Tyreek Hill. However, Hill’s idol, Antonio Brown, had a different suggestion for Zay Flowers.

The All-Pro receiver advised the Boston College graduate to focus on keeping hold of the ball instead of practicing climbing hills.

Why did Antonio Brown advise Zay Flowers to focus on not fumbling the ball?

The former Steeler perhaps tried to remind Flowers about his costly endzone fumble during the AFC Championship game earlier this year. Despite going the entire season without dropping a single ball, Flowers had two fumbles in the game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Chiefs were leading 17-7 in the game when Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson threw a deep pass, targeting Flowers. As the pass came close, Chiefs corner L’Jarius Sneed knocked the ball out of his hands just one yard from scoring a touchdown.

A few plays earlier, the referee booked Flower for un-sportsmanlike conduct for taunting Sneed. After catching a pass, Flowers stood above Sneed and started trash-talking him until the officials removed him from the spot. The Ravens received an unnecessary 15-yard penalty, one of many throughout the night.

In a later interview, Flowers revealed that he still had lurking disappointment about the fumble.

Honestly, I still [haven't] gotten over it. I still think about it, but I know next year we have a chance to get back there and try to make it to the Super Bowl. so that's why I'm working every day and going hard every day to get back to that moment.
