Antonio Conte took over Inter last season and finished second behind Juventus and lost the Europa League Final against Sevilla. However, Conte doesn’t seem too worried as he seeks to build a team for the longer term similar to what Liverpool have done. Inter are in a bit of a bad form currently due to lots of players testing positive for coronavirus.

We are building something important – Antonio Conte

Conte has been given significant backing by the Inter Milan board for pipping Juventus to the title. The team are significantly stronger this season but are winless in the last three games. However, Conte seeks patience and compared his team to Liverpool and said, “We need to work hard. As an example I take Klopp’s Liverpool. It was four years without winning – now they are a war machine.”

He further added, “We are building something important. I don’t know if it will lead to winning something in the short term, but I know for sure that it is a right path. Even from the outside, seeing Inter, you get the idea of a solid structure unlike in other years. This gives me happiness.”

Lukaku seems to be single handedly winning matches for Inter with defense a huge cause of worry. Conte acknowledged it and said, “We scored many goals and could have scored more. We conceded avoidable goals and often due to individual situations that we can improve. We will continue to work, to play games. Up to now, there hasn’t been a single team that has been superior to us.”

This is wishful thinking from Conte as Inter Milan need to start winning matches again especially in Serie A or risk falling further behind in the title race.
