A quote that should be deeply imprinted into the minds of all NFL athletes is ‘Health is wealth.’ It was a scary Thursday for the Miami Dolphins after quarterback Tua Tagovailoa suffered his third concussion since turning pro. He ran into Bills safety Damar Hamlin and hit the back of his head on the turf.
After Tua Tagovailoa was taken out of the game, it resulted in fans and his peers showing concern for him and they strongly urged him to walk away from the game. Las Vegas Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce was asked about what advice he had for the quarterback after he sustained yet another concussion.
Expressing immediate concern for Tua Tagovailoa, Pierce cut right to the chase and stated that the quarterback should hang his cleats up.
I'll be honest, I'll just tell him to retire. It's not worth it. It's not worth to play the game, I haven't witnessed anything like I've seen that's happened to him three times. Scary...I just think at some point, you know, he's going to live longer than he's going to play football. Take care of your family.Antonio Pierce said
It was indeed scary to watch Tagovailoa take the fall. Witnessing the Dolphins’ staff rush to help him and take no time in declaring that he had suffered a concussion must have been terrifying for his family.
Tua Tagovailoa has had an injury-riddled NFL career
Antonio Pierce is just one of many well-wishers urging the quarterback to hang it up voluntarily and not push himself to a situation wherein he would be compelled to retire. Football is a violent sport and that is common knowledge.
But sooner or later when one suffers as many concussions as Tagovailoa has in such a short span, maybe it should be taken as a sign that he should prioritize his health over his profession.
The road as a pro has not been easy for Tua Tagovailoa. He signed a four-year contract worth $212 million deal to stay in Miami before the season began.
In his final season at Alabama and first three seasons in the NFL, he has struggled to stay healthy. Except for last season, wherein he stood out and led the Dolphins into the playoffs.

For now, fans hope to see the quarterback make a speedy recovery. The Dolphins QB has been placed in concussion protocol and until he satisfies an independent consultant that he is doing better, he will be unable to take the field.
Tua Tagovailoa has yet to release a statement and is likely taking some time off to contemplate his situation. Hopefully, he does what is best for his family and his health.
